The moral of this is don’t underestimate the power of the dog. They have acute hearing and smell. If I had to go on a mission I would want a well trained dog by my side. Dog’s can be worth their weight in gold.

They (and rats) are also trained to identify diseases like cancer in blood and urine samples, with amazingly high success rates. Amazing what a good nose can tell you hey.
@markkettlewell74413 жыл бұрын
@@tSp289 Yup I had read about them being able to detect diseases in owners. We humans don’t have a very good sense of smell. Dogs are amazing creatures and I always smile when I see them. I trained two great dogs from pups and they were wonderful and obedient. My latest dog was so well trained that I told her to lie down and she remained there. I felt awful as I forgot I had told her to lie down, so I quickly let her get up 20 minutes later. 😕🙂

They are incredible but I have some kind of moral issue with animals trained for combat/police work. People will think me silly and say human lives are of course more important but I hate the fact we are putting innocent animals at risk of death for our own causes. You have too admire their capabilities though.

We may have a small army, but we have loads of experience with counter terrorism thanks to "the troubles" as he says in this. I did a couple of tours in Northern Ireland and we were briefed before each patrol by the Int section, known and suspected players on the patch, we also tried to learn the names of the players wives and kids, so if you saw one on the street you would ask "how is so and so" even though you didnt have the evidence to arrest them, questions like that visibly un-nerved them as it made them wonder what else you knew. We also logged how much milk was being delivered to houses suspected of harbouring terrorists on the move if they suddenly had more than normal delivered it raised a red flag

I wouldn't call any innocent people getting blow to shit a great thing, but this is what happens when you divide a country, if all 32 counties were handed over instead of 26 we wouldn't have seen the bloodshed both here and in England and the bitter divide that still exists today in Northern Ireland, this would have all be settle in the civil war that broke out here, but instead we had an occupation that put both innocent Irish and British in harms way, this was all caused by Westminster and no body else. If the British government didn't have soldiers on the ground and forcefully held the 6 counties in the north (until the good Friday agreement) you wouldn't have your lads lose their lives on foreign soil for some bastatds in government who don't give a shit, but sometimes ye squaddies seem to forget this, I wonder what ye would do if ye had an occupying force in England would ye fight back. I bet ye would and yer only tactic would be a guerilla war if ye were fight a super power like the British army. So like I said I don't condone the killing on any side but at the same time ye shouldn't be in the North the 6 counties belong to the Republic of Ireland.

Typically the British Military uses dogs like German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois' as attack dogs. Gun Dogs such as Labradors and Spaniels are typically used as search dogs, either drugs or explosive/firearms. Drugs search dogs will typically jump all over a find but with explosives search dogs, that sort of behaviour is discouraged, because, y'know....boom.

There's even been 2 or 3 times seals had to pull back and replan because their targets had staked out dogs on leashes every hundred yards for almost a mile around the perimeter of their camp. Basically making a mile wide alarm system.
