The Marine was actually at a disadvantage because the vehicle started veering off and had to be corrected. You could see her lose momentum there. She probably could have been below 31 seconds if the vehicle went straight like it did for the Army soldier.

In the rematch, make sure to have a camera behind the vehicle to capture how much the person behind pushes. I think being given a shove to get it going makes sense for the competition, it just needs to be recorded and maybe by a 3rd party with no horses in the race.
