22 years in the navy never seen a ship BUCS(SCW/FMF/EXW). You can be on a ship as a Seabee if your with a amphib construction battalion Or are with UCT under water construction. Or are with a air det that you can't get flown into location. You can be on a ship as a Seabee but for the most part odds are very low.

@ToddAtkinsShow4 жыл бұрын
You will do administrative work in port and stand watch. Underway you will do administrative work and drive the submarine. Maybe do some sonar too. Yeoman work directly for the XO and CO (Executive Officer and Captain) on submarines. You have a little more pull with the crew because of that. The crew has to come to you and the other yeoman for a lot of things. They also fuck with you less because you work directly for XO and CO and they don’t want to piss them off for obvious reasons. You will do four years on and 3 years off shore duty in most cases. Like working in an office some place. On a surface ship you may not work directly for the Captain. Depending on the size of the ship you may only talk to that person and handful of times, especially on a carrier. On a submarine everyone knows everyone and as a Yeoman you deal with the Captain and XO regularly most days.

I’m already here I’ll go with it. The contract I ended up signing had me in DEP for 8 months. I signed back in May and I leave Feb. 3 so I’m not sure if that was the only CTR contract available or not. Because I was looking for something a little farther out than most people do because I had a house to sell and vehicles. Basically a different situation than the typical person who joins and wants to leave as soon as possible. I will say from What I have learned CTR is more available that CTN. Or so it seems.

Do you choose your job in the navy?
@lanae22784 жыл бұрын
You have the option depending on what’s available when you’re at MEPS but you can always change while your in dep if something more desirable comes along .

you request and if its open and you qualify you can, sometimes it doesnt work like that.,

Depends on your ASVAB scores. You test at meps then again in boot camp then your are given five rate choices. Choose wisely not just for convenience. I chose radio man because I wanted to get out of Great Lakes go to California for a school. Worst choice of my life although I was in an air-conditioned space on the ship once I got out I had wasted my time because there was nothing that that rate had trained me for that I could use in civilian life. I was a teletype tech but when I got out teletypes were obsolete. Be smart do electronics (ET, IC) computer (IT), corpsman, any Seabee rate, machinist rate, anything with a legitimate repair. Don’t waste your time with PN,YN,BM,CT,LN,RP.

What about Navy (IT) rates? And about about naval reserves?
@dwkvideos4 жыл бұрын
ITs work on ships alot and reserves dont really touch ships unless they deploy

Sounds kind of contradictory. The whole point of the Navy revolves around going to sea. If going to sea is a hard NO, that rules out the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. One would be better served joining the Army or Air Force even though even they have large body of water situations from time to time and train for it accordingly.

Na man they’re more focused on academics especially if you score high enough and offer more peace of mind for your people in case of war

I had a buddy that was a meteorologist, a weatherman. Your chances are slim to none. The only ships that have them are carriers, and, at that, there would be only maybe one or two of you aboard. Mainly, you go to Naval Air Stations.
