There are plenty of Veterans out there, they don’t get free houses. I’d love to see their mortgage taken care of, but someone has to pay for it. I am very happy for this couple, they have a beautiful house and I really hope they enjoy their retirement and quality time together.

So many veterans don't know this option is available to them. It's more than likely a zero-down VA loan in a reverse mortgage. God bless them and the realtor for explaining it to them and working through all of the documentation.

Glad they got a house. But did they not apply for an house decades ago🤔 The service people I know always talked about the benefits they have. I have uncles and grandpas who served 10-20 years and some of them have nice homes. The ones who don't, don't because of their own devices which generally was getting too drunk and spending money on women/material things. Then some I don't think they cared much for owning a home. Some of the ones with nice homes I guess you can say are functioning alcoholics/drug users. One of my grandpas told us that many men that got out the service had help put they didn't use it or was to prideful too reach out.

Perhaps he wasn’t financially prepared credit wise years ago. I was an agent for 10 years in VA. And you’d be surprised at what some people just don’t know. And sometimes, they are too prideful to ask. It’s pretty easy for a veteran to buy a home. Yet, the process may appear very daunting when you’re uneducated about it. And let fear hold him back. I have an aunt in her late 60’s that talks about buying all the time. She even got approved years ago and took the first-time homebuyers class. And she didn’t follow through with it. So, I think she let fear stop her. Or she never saved her portion of the money required to put down. I’m leaning towards the latter. My ex-husband is a veteran. When we purchased years ago, we only gave a $300 earnest money deposit. We didn’t need a down payment and the seller paid closing. We paid for our home inspection as well. After closing, we got a $600 check in the mail after having extra closing funds left over. So, I think some people are defeated from the start not knowing or understanding the process. Or they go to the wrong folks for info and get misled.

@@angeliarichardson777 I havent tried for a VA loan because of my credit. There could be many reasons they didnt apply. Very blessed that they were able to get approved. God is good. Im 60 and there is no way I can repair my credit and get a VA loan. Totally my fault.

@ As long as you’re still alive and it’s in God’s will, you can get approved. This is the exact thinking and fear that holds people back. It will take some work but it can be done. Don’t allow society to dictate your actions and beliefs based on worldly standards. Seek God for his direction and be obedient. Regardless of how your credit looks right now, you don’t know what miracle God has in store for you. As the Bible says, faith without works is dead. Don’t just look at your debt and do nothing. Come up with a plan. First, go into your local bank and allow them to pull your credit to see where you stand. Knowing what needs to be paid is half the battle. From there, pay one thing at a time starting with the smallest amount. And keep going. Set small goals to do what’s necessary. Don’t just given up if it’s a desire you have. You do the natural and God will add his super. Blessings to you!
