I can personally attest that NATO's had plans for decades in how to counter then Soviet and now Russian aggression into Europe. I grew up as a Canadian army brat and when posted to Germany in the mid-80's it was common for the military to engage in war games and have unannounced 'snowball' callout exercises to practice rapid response readiness. @@iriemon1796 Tell that to the conscripts who won in WW2 and Korea. The "professional" armies of the West have not won any major wars ever since (Iraq was not a serious opponent). Conscripts may not be as good as professional soldiers individually, but both sides in Ukraine couldn't have had ANY of their successes by relying on professionals OR conscripts ONLY. Conscripts ensure you have the manpower to support the professionals - you cannot afford to have professionals doing secondary tasks when you need each and every one of them to fight your battles. And I strongly doubt the professionals would rather walk from point a to point b than be driven by a somewhat well-trained conscript. Switzerland would manage to give even the worlds leading powers a run for their money if they tried to invade, even though their professional army is tiny even for Swiss standards. You don't need supersoldiers to lure enemy forces into a trap/ambush, and finish them off once they're where you want them to be. Especially when your conscripts come for training exercises every other year, so they still know the basic tasks they're expected to handle.

What is different is the so-called "Military Schengen" in which the NATO forces will be able to move freely between NATO countries without asking each time for approval. In my country, for a foreign military unit to enter national territory, a Parliamentary bill must pass. 😁 We saw in the US that one man can postpone a bill for 9 months. This is an important initiative and I hope it will work!

NATO maintains a large number of battle plans for every conceivable eventuality. In addition to this each national army also has all sorts of battle plans. And shock horror so does Russia. What do people think military planners do when there is not a war going on? Just because you have a battle plan does not mean you want to carry it out. Some of those plans are used as a reason NOT to do what was being planned.

I was just watching the D-Day remembrance, it gave me such a melancholy feeling; showing how the 'good guys' of the world banded together to fight a European dictator, pretty much NATO before there was NATO; and how these world leaders are missing the parallels here is mind blowing, we're appeasing our way right back full circle. As a Norwegian, why would the US put all it's material in Bergen in Norway, then drive it over some of the largest mountains in Norway? When you could just transport it further north, cover longer transport with shipping and have a much shorter route into Sweden and then up to Finland, or just ship it all the way to Finland?

It was mid 23 when I saw another Scott Ritter Interview with him and all the fanboys in the comments: "Yeah, McGregor tells it like it is" and I collected quotes of him and went: "This is what he said 2 weeks after the invasion started, this he said in June, this in September, this in December and his deadline on his February prediction is not completely up yet, but this, too, looks rather unlikely currently." And it really was stunning how constantly wrong he was. I admire a commentator making real, verifiable predictions unlike some other commentators by 2023, who predicted very vague terms, that were not really quantifiable but at some point, the people planing to invite him have to look at these predictions and see, they are all failed.
