Ppl born in the US don't realize that other countries, have harsh/severe consequences for breaking their laws! Such as cutting a hand off for theft or receiving 4 lashes with a bamboo cane. Michael Fay was sentence to 6 lashes with a bamboo cane for graffiti while visiting Singapore eventually reduced to 4. In an interview, he explained the pain as the cane ripped through his flesh. Once you step foot on foreign soil, respect and obey their laws.

I think people born in the US are very familiar with long, often unjust, prison sentences for drug trafficking. Even for cannabis. In South dakota, because cannabis is a schedule one substance, if you are caught possessing any amount of processed marijuana (hash oil, laced food, extracts) will get you the harshest sentencing of any drug violation- same as heroin and meth.

First off, she’s a WNBA athlete, unfortunately for her, 99.9% of the people in America don’t even watch the WNBA, let alone it’s players having household names. Therefore, I don’t think she would be considered a “high-profile athlete”. She’s just someone who thinks just because she is tall and plays organized basketball, she should be able to break the law in another country and get privileges. It doesn’t work that way 🙄 There was an African-American Atlanta man by the name of Timothy Revell, who went to Barranquilla, Colombia to start a restaurant. He got killed and wasn’t doing anything illegal at all. Just an innocent, hard working man with goals and dreams, who wanted to expand his restaurant business abroad. NO U.S. EMBASSY INVESTIGATION AT ALL LOOKING INTO THIS MAN’S KILLING!!! The story didn’t make national news and his family here in America has not been assisted at all by the U.S. Department of State. But on the flip side, BRITTANY CONDUCTS ILLEGAL ACTIVITY BY TRYING TO SNEAK MARIJUANA THOUGH CUSTOMS FROM RUSSIA AND IT MAKES NATIONAL NEWS??!! Something is seriously wrong here.

She is tested randomly in both places. The owners of her team are members of two big Russian Oligarch families who were hit by the US sanctions. BG was arrested the week before the Ukraine invasion and she traveled for the first time, without her Russian interpreter/agent. For those critical of it being only a cannabis vape, I would agree if it was in the U.S., but I know that ends if I leave our borders. What concerns me the most about her safety are those star tattooes on the front of her shoulders; that is what Russian mobsters do to signify they do not bow before any man, and the Russian government goes after those mobsters when they see those tats. She practically painted a target on herself. I hope she returns safely home soon, and I hope everyone in the U.S. uses this as a learning experence to appreciate our liberties that we can only experience on our own soil. The only reason they are making a big deal about this is because she's locked up in Russia. If she's been playing there for a few years now she should now the law. She broke the law and this is probably not the 1st time she's tried to bring that in her luggage. She just got caught and people are acting like this was a setup and some planted that in her luggage. Unless she has a medical conditions is prescribed that she shouldn't have had it in her luggage. If she could have gotten in Russia I'm pretty sure she could have gotten some in the United States. If everybody is so concerned about freeing her from jail the they need to keep that same energy about the people here in the United States that's locked for drug charges to then

Don't bring drugs into other countries your constitutional rights that are guaranteed in the states are not recognized outside our borders, pretty ironic then she chose to boycott the American flag 🇺🇸 and the playing of our national anthem well over the next 10 years she'll have plenty of time to learn the words to the Russian anthem,
