Lendl was in God mode then between 84 to 87. He was playing almost all the finals. He was winning almost all the masters but was unlucky in majors. That time competition was much more than today. Lendl, Wilander, Becker, Edberg, McEnroe, Connors, Mecir etc.

Gran verdad.

It's refreshing to see players that don't require a complete toweling after every point. That has gotten way out of control. So glad there is a shot clock these days.

God I wish they had a serve clock back in the 80's. Ridiculous how long it took for these guys to start a point!

Lendl is just crushing Edberg here second set onwards. While the first set was closely contested & went to a tie break after that it was a cruise for Ivan.
@michaelbarlow66104 жыл бұрын
@ amit marathe. Lendl didn't "crush" Edberg in the 1986 U.S. Open semifinal. The first set went to a tiebreaker. If Lendl had won all three sets easily then you could legitimately say that he creamed Edberg in the match. But Lendl had to play his best to win that very close first set! And Lendl was at the peak of his prime in 1986 and 1987, whereas Edberg was at his best in 1991 and 1992 when he won the U.S. Open back-to-back years, although he was also excellent from 1988-1990 when he won 2/3 Wimbledon finals against Becker.

@@michaelbarlow6610 Please read my comments properly. I have mentioned 2nd set onwards. Understand that Edberg won 2 US opens in the 90’s but here he is no match for Lendl.
