What's fascinating about Carter's last Hail to the Chief was that he was working through the night before Reagan's inauguration to help secure the release of the American hostages in Iran!! The Iranians decided to stick it to Carter by not releasing the hostages until Reagan became president. Knowing that it was the Carter administration that helped secure the release of the hostages, Reagan in one of his first acts as president had Carter fly out to West Germany to greet the hostages as they board a plane back to the U.S.

Trump ordering there to be a gun salute was extremely pretentious. He left in shame, hated by the majority of the country, failing to accept an election he lost, he thought he should be celebrated. I expect him to run again, he might do what Grover Cleveland did and actually win.

All of Trump's bad deeds in his last year might already be a distant memory long-forgotten by the populace after Biden's performance as President in 2024. It is up to Trump how to rewrite his image and reputation if he intends to run in 2024.

And he actually won, retaking the states he lost in 2020 plus Nevada. And he got a slim majority of the popular vote.

@GavinusMaximusMaster yeah seriously he contested the election exactly like most presidents since 2000, and most politicians, and most civilians. He completely copied the democrat play book! when it looks like you've lost just say you won, or say the guy you don't like is illegitimate, worked for KJP, Hillary, Bill, Jimmy Carter, Stacey Abrams. Something about 6:55 is so ominous. The lower register (?) of "Hail to the Chief"- it sounds dark, distorted, like a degraded videotape. Not to mention the scare quotes around "last".

Not JFK’s last Hail to The Chief. What is shown is when it was played as his body arrived at the Capitol on Sunday, Nov . 24, 1963. Hail to The Chief was played outside St Matthew’s Cathedral the next day after his funeral mass. Not sure if that was the last time since I don’t know if it was played at Arlington
