47:04 When I lived in Largo this was my turn for work. And the signs about fishing on the bridge are to keep you from dropping your lines in the boat channel. If you turn your view around at 48:52 you can read the other set of signs. If you can read both sets of signs at the same time, you are above the boat channel. So yes, if you walk past the signs shown, you can fish after that point because you will be past the channel.

Thank you for clarifying! :) I honestly had no idea because I'm not from nor have been anywhere near Florida so I appreciate your comment. Always nice to get ones like this from locals on these videos.

@@courtemanche437 My pleasure! And I forgot to mention the reason why each end of the Sunshine Skyway has rest areas is because they double as access points to the fishing piers. The piers themselves are the remaining stubs of the old bridge approaches which were deactivated after the old Skyway bridge was torn down.

Ah, gotcha. Very interesting stuff :)

I've driven on 19 in Florida and North Carolina, where I live, but I wonder if anyone's ever driven to FL from NC using ONLY 19? I wonder how long that would take. The stretch through NC is pretty scenic, especially as it goes through the Nantahala Gorge on its way to Georgia. Love that drive! I enjoyed your comment about Ron DeSantis, haha!
@courtemanche4373 ай бұрын
I highly doubt that would have happened anytime in recent history, because if you wanted to go from St. Petersburg to Asheville, you would take I-75 to Atlanta to US 23 to US 74 to I-40. Even in the days before Interstate highways I'd imagine it's still probably not the fastest route. But that might be a pretty cool leisurely drive though. I'm just wondering, but do you have a Discord account by any chance? My friend TheDerpHog who also lives in the state has one and we have a server where we talk about highways and control cities and we'd love to have you in if you do :)

@@courtemanche437Actually US 19 WAS the popular route to go from Atlanta to Florida. I-75 was originally planned to follow either Georgia state route 1 (US 27) or Georgia state route 3 (US 41) from the Tennessee state line to Atlanta GA, (US 19) from Atlanta GA to Thomasville GA, (US 319) to the Florida State line and onto Tallahassee, Florida which was supposed to be the original terminus of I-75 before it extended it to St. Petersburg where it ended at US 19.

I took the section of the Blue Ridge Parkway From US 441 to US 19. Beautiful. US 74 West goes to Chattanooga. US-19 is concurrent with US 74 for a while in Western NC. I think that sign that says Blairsville 15, Atlanta 126 is when US 19 entered Georgia. The remains of the old Sunshine Skyway is a fishing pier. There is a North entrance and a South entrance. There is a big stretch of the old bridge that was demolished. A segment of the old bridge collapse when a ship collided with the old bridge.

Yeah I know 74 goes to Chattanooga but it was still no less surprising to see it on that mileage sign. I also knew about the concurrency because I showed reassurance shields for it. The Atlanta 126 sign is just north of the border in NC. I appreciate your comment though :)

US 19 is a Georgia Road Improvement Corridor from Florida State Line to I-75 in Forest Park Jonesboro Clayton County. It uses the historic route GA Hwy 3 instead of getting a new GA GRIP number like GA 520 and GA 540. It is also the only highway in Georgia co-signed with both GA 400 and GA 300 Georgia Florida Parkway. US 19 becomes the Florida-Georgia Parkway in Florida.

Ever thought about doing a video about the NYS thruway/ NY Route 17? I drive up and down it fairly regularly to visit family away from college, and it's definitely got some oddities along its length
@courtemanche4378 ай бұрын
The thruway was already covered in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oICbkIGhn9qnY5osi=u24XsqzJyK2zccMQ Although I guess I could make my own take, because the guy that made it also did a video on my local Interstate but yet I made my own version of that as well. NY 17 is basically just Interstate 86 and the same goes there. Bottom line: I'll consider these, although it might be a while because I have other roads on my plate for the time being.

GA Hwy 9 goes directly into Dawsonville. US Hwy 19 and GA Hwy 400 by-passes Dawsonville. US Hwy 19 used to be concurrent with GA Hwy 9.

Going north from Florida the control city is Albany with 57 miles. Once you get to Albany, Atlanta is the control city with 178 miles.

US 319 from Thomasville Ga to Tallahassee Florida is the old U.S. 19 route so at one point US 19 DID in fact go through Tallahassee, Florida.

When you get to I-285, it actually is concurrent with I-285 to Roswell Road.
