US shifts tone on Israel-Hamas war, underscores 'rules of war' • FRANCE 24 English

With US President Joe Biden confirming a trip to Israel on Tuesday, all eyes are on what the messaging will be out of the administration. "We've seen a shift over the past few days" from the White House, says France 24's international affairs editor Kethevane Gorjestani. "Initially, after Hamas's attack on Israel, the focus of the Americans was 'We're standing by Israel and Israel has a right to defend itself'". But now the message is changing, says Gorjestani adding that there is an increasing amount of emphasis on Israel to "conduct themselves along the rules of war."
