Actually in the USA it was Jack Northrop...he first went to work on an American flying wing in 1940. That aircraft , the YB-35 first took to the skies in June of 1945, eventually considered with the B-36 Peacemaker as the replacement to the B-29 until it’s flight control, stability & engine problems stalled it’s development & ended it’s viability...the technology was just too new & ahead of it’s time to be a realistic option...The Horton’s completed & tested their V2 fighter/concept aircraft, which crashed on it’s third flight, effectively ending the Nazi flying wing program...work on the HO 229 V3 continued but it never was completed...nor was the Horton heavy bomber even that close ; it was a conceptualized possibility that no doubt would have faced the same problems as the YB-35...it wasn’t until the advent of on board computers, pioneered in the F-117 stealth “fighter (actually an attack airplane with no defensive protection aside from it’s stealth abilities)” that allowed the radical flying wing concept to overcome it’s stability problems & become reality...how do I know all this? I worked on the B-2, along with the YF-22 & subsequent F-22 projects & other “black” programs...

lets look at the F-22 and the YF-23 for a minute the test pilots the aerospace and aircraft experts as well as weapons manufacturers ( arial armermants in particular ie gun/cannon missle and rocket) all said the YF-23 was the better platform. it had a sixteen to one kill ratio against the F-22 itself, which means it shot down sixteen F-22's before being shot down, which was made possible by an electronics suit and hardware to software interface that remains unmatched. Well than why wasn't it chosen? you ask that answer is both easy and complex, but the short answer is political intrusion and military leadership culpability. the YF-23 remained a closely guarded national asset procurement program with a much higher security clearance above top secret for more than twenty years after the compitition chose the F-22 as the next gen fighter. its also not suprising considering the F-35 was produced by the same company, yet the YF-23 had three major designs one for the Air Force one for the Navy and one for the Marines as well as six different variants of those three designs that would make the fighter anything that branch needed when they needed it weather it be air superiority attacker bomber ECM or muti-role and the could intergrate with current air craft and using advanced stealth technology shield them from detection to their target AO. the F-22 didn't have a fraction of the capabilities of the YF-23 and it cost abut half as much go figure.

Something similar,.. After the USA attacked the Tokyo area with B-25 Mitchell bombers in April of 1942, also known as "The Doolittle Raid", President FDR was asked by reporters where the planes came from, because no one knew they had launched from an aircraft carrier at sea, the USS Hornet. FDR's answer was "Shangri-La" :o) "But many questions remained, chief among them being where the 16 B-25 bombers had launched. The Doolittle Raid, the first joint operation between the U.S. Army Air Force and the Navy, was also the first time B-25s had taken off from the deck of an aircraft carrier. The planes previously had been used exclusively for land-based missions, and most reporters and others weren’t considering the possibility they had taken off at sea. Playing coy, Roosevelt said the bombers had taken off from “Shangri-La,” a fictional location in the 1933 novel “Lost Horizon.” Two years later, as an homage to the president’s wisecrack, the Navy commissioned an aircraft carrier named the USS Shangri-La. It remained in service until the early 1970s." Full article>>> www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/apr/12/news-doolittle-raid-leaks-slowly-roosevelt-silence/

The US had announced a couple months ago from now (sometime of September 2020 around there I remember) that’s it’s already flown a 6th gen prototype. And they said it’s broken a lot of records. They built the plane in one whole year. We’re building two 6th gen aircraft. The F/A-XX program for the Navy, and the F-X program for the Air Force. It’s expected to have both aircraft ready by 2030-2035. They will have laser weapons for defense and offense as well as the capability to control drones. It will also have the ability to be optionally manned (can be piloted by a man and be flown by AI).

I think this is premature. We are nowhere near 6th gen, we barely entered 5th gen and there are still tons of problems. That said, really looking forward to what will come next.
@dailyaviation18283 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Yea, it is right that still we have tons problems...
@MDP17023 жыл бұрын
There are currently at least 3 6th gen projects underway with quite some information (relatively speaking), one in the US (if you count navy and airforce programs as one) and 2 in Europe (UK, Italy, Sweden and France, Germany, Spain). The European countries realised that it would be useless to focus on 5th gen now, seeing it would be outdated by release, so they immediately jump to 6th gen. The US started 6th gen programs around 5 years or more ago, this is around 20-35 years after 5th gen programs were launched. These 3 projects expect first flight tests to happen between 2025 and 2030, with final release somewhere around 2035-2040. These are probably the most known projects, though China also started plans with similar goals (2025-2035), India started a gen 6 program very recently and Japan already started working on one 10 years ago (concept-wise) and has in 2020 officially started the real development, again with similar time goals. Russia talked about 6th gen as early as 2013, though not much is known about it, so it is possible this is for now going nowhere with an emphasize still on 5th gen. The aimed concept of gen 6 is improved stealth and a very high attention on digital aspects, like for example communicating with and controlling a set of drones acting like the fighters support from the manned vehicle. And ofcourse other usual specifications improved. Ofcourse other fighters will still be around for a long time, even if they keep the timeframe set, the air fleet of the nations developing 6th gen won't be replaced fully before 2050 and other nations will take even longer and it is possible nations will keep some 'regular' fighters too on hand.

I'm Sorry: But if Boeing has ANYTHING to do with it, you would be better buying from Russia or the Chinese. At least they would be on time/on price and actually work. The US military is incapable of choosing the better aircraft. (The YF-23 was faster/cheaper and almost invisible to radar. and it failed to get the contract that went to the Raptor, the aircraft that kept trying to kill it's pilots time after time.) The US military purchasing is compromised by politicians who black mail the Pentagon to buy from their companies, or not get the funds at all. CORRUPTION is rampant in the US Military purchasing system. Even President Eisenhower warned of it back in the 1950's.

Not necessarily. The F35 become into so many snags because they was developing a entire new fighter based on majority high technology and avionics that way beyond the advancement than they ever encountered before in practical. They wasn't ready for many of the software and equipment developement because they hadn't tested a lot of it.. The equipment will have a lot of difficulties. As they will be needed to re engineered to make it safe. The F35 program developed a way for easier development for a advanced 6th generation. I don't think it will be as hard to develop as the F35 / F22 as they basically set the groundstage blueprints for it. And computer software is a lot more advanced today then when they started building the F22 and F35.. If you look at computers even from back in early 2000 to what is available now. A lot has been developed. Even TV'S too. From a old plasma to LCD to LED. 4k 8k and even a Sony 16k. And touch screen freezing fix. All this new development technology all helps for a new defence systems also. Back in early 2000 many defence companies was only just in the early practical development phase for all these high tech aircraft. A lot has changed in 20 years. We now in the digital area.

I find it quite to my amusement that they think that eliminating humans is such a great thing in fighter development, plus if they were to spend time in developing the air tightness, dampners reducing the forces that are permitted to come in to the pilot then they could hypersonic real life pilots. Also on top of that point, the only reason they desire so strongly to reduce or eliminate human being control is because they know human beings are created in the image of Yeshua YAWEH and they hate anything that points to a Sovereign being over all, which is ironically a battle against themselves and the second point is that they dont want good people who know a mission or a covert operation is treasonous or murder to be able to control the airframe to not perform the mission. Obeying orders is one thing, being honorable is quite another and yet being moral and ethical is also another to be considered. I intend to serve my country with the best intentions but I pray Yeshua that I never will have to perform a mission for Gray State or Deep State that either murders U.S. citizens or another hired hand they want to be rid of.
