The best part of that model is NO STUPID BIRDS!!!! I respect a man who loves his mother but holy crap, those birds are why i never bought a PRS until i noticed that the S2 Standard 22 had dot inlays. And i never thought I'd ever be super excited for dot inlays but when compared to the stupid birds, definitely.

For guitars with locking tuners do they only work with one Key. Can you get the key changed if you lose the original or do you have to get all new locks? It seems a lot of trouble to go to just to stop people messing with your tuning, is it a common problem like trailer theft. I have used a locking hitch which seems a good idea. I suppose without the right key a thief wouldn’t be able to play the guitar in tune unless the key can be easily copied.
@donbishop6994
@donbishop6994 Жыл бұрын
@Stephen Russel there is no key needed. There is a turn wheel that you tighten by hand. It's part of the tuner.
@AlexLionRiley

The 'lock' is to hold the string in place to minimise any slipping and tuning issues. Not to minimise tampering by people.
@stephenrussell6074
@stephenrussell6074 Жыл бұрын
@@AlexLionRiley I thought you had to have a key every time you played the guitar and according to Rick Beato modern songs don’t change key which is why I understand people use locking tuners now as they didn’t exist in the 60s. But it must be awkward if you want to change key for anther song. You could always do a whole set in one key I suppose. I wonder if locking tuners is the reason people write less complex tunes now.
@mattbrown5234
@mattbrown5234 Жыл бұрын
@@stephenrussell6074Pretty sure you’re confusing locking tuners with a locking tremolo. Locking tuners have zero impact on your ability to change keys, you just turn the tuning pegs like normal. With a locking tremolo, you’re locked into one key.
@stephenrussell6074
@stephenrussell6074 Жыл бұрын
@@mattbrown5234 if that is the case then locking tuners is a misnomer they should be called string locks as that is actually what they do.

Great prices for the S2, but imo those guitars are overpriced to begin with. Just cuz it’s assembled in the United States shouldn’t make it that much more, when it still has the same parts as the SE range. I think they should at least use the core pickups, when charging almost 2k.

There is a particular portion of us who are not excited by the PRS brand. The gig bag says it all. Unlike the Epiphone factory which is wholly owned by Gibson the PRS SE factory is not owned by PRS and makes many other budget-branded Asian guitars, it seems like the end product falls short of the hype.
@__.rey.__
@__.rey.__ Жыл бұрын
What's wrong with the gig bag? I'm not trying to be rude, but why is the gig bag the reason some people aren't excited? I mean, I get we want cases with American guitars, but most companies don't have cases with their lower end American guitars. Gibson has a semisoft shell I believe, and Fender has a gigbag. Prs gigbags are some of the better quality ones anyway. And the CorTec factory makes some of the best import guitars out there today.

The problem is that factories in the far east are tasked with making guitars to hit a lower price point, so the quality is compromised and then everyone associates them with that standard of product. @@Chris.1812 Interesting thought - although Fender and Gibson are both too invested in the idea that their USA built instruments have intrinsic value that goes beyond their quality / playability. My point (I think) was that if you don't live in America, and have the the cash to spend on an American instrument, why not instead explore the idea of buying one made by a luthier in your own country? Obviously there are reasons why people wouldn't want to do this, e.g. buying a guitar similar to one played by an artist that has inspired them. I'm not sure this would apply to PRS though - I certainly wasn't inspired to pick up a guitar by my dentist - but each to their own.

There's an intriguing vid on the prs channel, "From The Archives" series, a couple of weeks ago. The first prototype models they drove around with drumming up orders. One dots, one birds. They expected the orders to be for plain top and dots and very few to like the birds, but the dealers mostly went for flames and birds. So, historically they never thought birds would be popular, but that is what most people want.
