As a setter this was so cool to watch because it's such a clear view of the technique!

I'm impressed with Josh Tuaniga technique and style. I knew he just existed in Plus Liga bottom feeder Slepsk Suwalki and rarely saw him playing, but in group stage of VNL vs Poland he lead the game very well. His plays with middle blockers and pipe were very smooth. I look forward to see him playing in Olsztyn this season and him having better opportunity to show his skills.

The importance of soft hands, even when the setter is on the run, falling backwards, or flying through the air can never be overstated. I say this as the volleyball analogue to Roberto Duran in his early days (as perhaps the best boxer ever in the lightweight division)-manos de piedra, or “hands of stone.”

What do I do if the ball comes around chest high on a receive/dig. I never know what to do so best I do is puff my chest and it usually just drops dead.
@Jessica-nl7si2 жыл бұрын
You can set it and just pop it up really high into the air for the setter to get under it. (That's what I was taught but there might be other things you can do)

its so interesting to see how differently the ball flies for each setter :o I never noticed a difference in a way I was able to /notice/ before this video, where they alternate directly! And the difference is difficult to unpick without higher level vball knowledge (why do the balls look like they're leaving Josh's hands at a faster speed even though the overall speeds look the same? I have absolutely no clue!!) but it's really cool to see even without understanding it! :D

Hello, Erik, Me as a non-professional volleyball player at school, could you give me some advice, maybe for my serve skills. I am not taller enough ( i am 5'3 161cm), but um Does my height affect my serve skills?
@ajgarrido12282 жыл бұрын
It usually doesn’t, you should still be serving fine unless it’s a jump serve. But even then it would probably benefit you. Since your 6’3 your a little bit on the taller side so your still contacting the ball down which is really beneficial. You should be fine, hope this helps
