USA Olympic team analysis after US Classic + my predictions

Most of this is pretty accurate. I think with Suni that she has to do the full competition on all apparatuses on both days at Nationals, and she's got to prove that she's healthy enough at this stage to be considered. So long as her health has a question mark, I could understand the selection committee having reservations about her being on the team.

She's mentioned that her endurance isn't what it used to be, so this could be a big issue for her. I'd be thrilled to see her go to a 2nd Olympics! She has the skills. She has the talent. I hope she still has the stamina.

Based on this first event I agree with the top five. Honestly I hope that is the team, but only time will tell. Praying they all do their best so whatever happens they know that they gave their all.

They don’t Expect Anyone to be Peaking yet! The team chosen based on this event I Agree and they’d Kick Butt! We don’t Need Suni for the vault but another great bar routine and beam would be great. Probably is Skyes spot if she can stay on the equipment. Falls bars or beam Every competition or she’d be on My team! I never took Gabbys return as a possibility

“If Carey won’t upgrade floor” WE ALL KNOW (at least should) THAT SHE CAN AND WILL UPGRADE HER FX. She can add one more twist in EVERY TUMBLING PASS (might not be the best ideia to add in the final pass tho). She is a huge contributor to the team and can make two EF. She will only get better. The reigning Olympic Floor Champ is going to Paris, no matter what. Right now the team is looking like this: SIMONE, SHI, JADE, SUNI (if hit at nats, which she most likely will) and one of JORDAN/SKYE/KAYLA.

Jade Still has her Skills esp on Floor! She is very Talented. Was throwing some double layouts with a twist in college or a Silvias! She Could be used on or events if needed. She’s our 2nd best Vaulter

A team made of Biles + Shilese + Suni + Jade is what USA needs to secure gold. On Vault, Shilese with a DTY, Carey and Biles with a Cheng. On Bars, Biles with 14.6, Shilese and Suni with 15+. On Beam, Shilese, Biles and Suni with 14+. On Floor, Shilese, Jade and Biles with 14+. Who can stop them?

If they want Suni on the team for her potential bars and beam, the rest needs to be solid all arounders. Basically need to be on call in team finals for all apparatus. I’m quite nervous about inconsistencies by the veterans TBH.

I think that Simon Biles is a phenomenon! She has more talent in her baby finger than I have, or will ever have in my entire body. That being said, I wish someone would tell her to point her toes. Whether she’s jumping onto the beam , or doing some kind of grand jete, her front foot is totally flexed. Also, when she runs across the mat on floor routines, her back foot is sickled! These are easily fixable and I wonder why no one has told her. Still, I love watching her incredible flips and the strength of her routines. I was a professional dancer for 14 yrs, so things like flexed, or sickled feet are a sore point with me. Neither of these things seem to detract from her scores and I think she’ll nail everything at the upcoming Olympics!

You have to look at making the team in 3 groups: 1) top 2 AA Biles and Jones are locks and no one else (at this point) will challenge for the top 2 AA 2) 3rd possible AA (meaning if injury happens to another gymnast we can depend on them to give a good score on any event) After classic this spot goes to Chiles but Wong, DiCello, and Sumanaskera are in the running 3) 2 specialists with serviceable routines on their weakest events These spots at the moment should go to Carey and Lee (though I want to see her do 4 clean bar routines at nationals and trials even if it is not going to be her hardest routine if she makes the team) Others in the running are Roberson (she has a lot of cleaning up to do), Blakely (she is going to have to go at least 8 for 8 on beam and bars), Lincoln (great floor and good vault but her beam and bars is probably not going to be good enough to make the team)

I will be devastated for Leanne more so than Joscelyn. I will definitely cry if Leanne doesn’t make it. Right now, I think it’s going to be Simone, Shilese, Suni, Jordan and Jade, with Leanne and Kayla/ Skye as alternates.

I wanna put Skye as the 5th team member so badly. She will replace Shi on beam and maybe do a Cheng (so 3 Chengs from Simone, Jade, Skye), but she's so inconsistent... if she hits everything and places 3rd in the All Around at both Nationals and Trials, it will be hard not to bring her. I think Leanne's and Kayla's chances really depends on whether Suni comes back with a fab bars routine. Tiana, Gabby, Josc, Kaylia and Trinity are out of the running for me unfortunately, but you're right, they can all take the alternate spot.

Don't be funny, skye consistency is very poor and if she goes to the Olympics will put very high pressure and challenge on the US, the US might repeat the Tokyo failure, it's not worth the risk. And she doesn't have the Cheng and I don't think she will do the move either

Replace one of the best and dependable US gymnasts (and can put up a good score) for someone who has proven time after time to be inconsistent internationally IS SO STUPID, to say the least. Eventho Skye is a dear one to Chelsie, for an example, the Selection Committee wouldn’t be dumb enough to consider her on the team if she falls even once at nats or trials. She not only needs mistakes from people like Jordan and Kayla, but also to score 14.2+ on bars and beam to actually be in contention. She needs a lot. A solid cheng would help her IMMENSELY, but is very doubtful atp.

I watch or attend these meets and I know who falls ie Skye she does 1 great beam or bar routine and then falls on the other. We want to send the best! I’ve been cheering her on. It won’t come down to one or the other bc they have opposing Best events. If we end up needing help on floor and vault they’ll send whoever has the highest scores this year…Jade is the only Floor and Vault specialist and she’s reliable. Screwing up her bar routine doesn’t matter, she won’t be doing bars.

Dont get me wrong.. but, I am tired of Biles this and Biles that.. being a G.O.A.T.. yes she is an amazing gymnast, but there are 4 other gymnasta that have to be just as good too to make the team. You dont hear a quarter of what you do for Biles.

How is that Simones fault that she gets more coverage than the other gymnast?? The other gymnasts need to step up their game. They need to get in the gym and practice like Simone does. If Simone wasn't with the US we wouldn't have as many gold medals as we have. She has put the US gymnastics back on the map. You people are never satisfied.
