Courtney McCool showed us the single best double layout dismount ever in elite gymnastics. EVER.
@Zuranthium2 жыл бұрын
Highly disagree, she doesn't get much amplitude and her shoulders are stiff, I prefer a bit of an arch on the double layout for the most beautiful look.

Man, I love McCool's stuff. Did then and still love to watch her. Such excellent form and fluidity to her motions. Love it.

I love gymnastics in this Era so much !! The 3 C's, Courtney, Courtney, and Carly, there was something really special about there individuals style. So graceful and powerful at the same time !!!

People gave Kupets a lot of crap for this routine, but Boguinskaya had some WEIRD routines for years and people call her a queen, haha.

Haha facts!!!

I never understood why Kupets was considered such a "lock" at nationals/trials. She was only competitive on UB, BB. Her FX SV was only a 9.8 and her Podkepayeva Vault was only at a 9.7. I never understand why everyone was reacting as if her program was that competitive. In my opinion her inflated scores on FX hurt the USA team as we did not take anyone to fill that void consistently alongside Patterson.

She was simply amazing

Ahh, Courtney's tour jete on beam. No one has ever done it so beautifully.

when I first watched this (9 years ago...damn) and the commentators said Courtney needed a 9.610, my first thought was "she's gonna get a 9.600 and tie with carly" and then she did and I was like OHHHH WHO CALLED THAT!?

I know there was a lot of flack about Kupet's floor routine, but I love it.

The tumbling is great, her dancing abilities are great, but the choreography was a little bizarre lol. Some of it was really cool, but some was just strange and a little unsettling.

What did they perform Kupets' surgery with - a rusty saw? Jeez!!
@gwen59493 жыл бұрын
I think she developed a keloid on the incision-site. This can happen when there is an excess amount of scar tissue that forms during the healing process.
@melissagold94914 жыл бұрын
LOL. One of my favorite moments from this championships has always been Carly’s reaction when they realize they tied for first.

Once I was informed that McCool has size 10 foot, I can’t not notice it on beam. He feet look so unusually large😂 her form is amazing though.

Holy crap 😮😮 I'm 5'7, thin build with a size 9 foot and think I look clunky with big feet, but now I can't unsee it. Not even 5 foot tall with a size 10 is unheard of haha. I don't want to offend, but holy crap lol. You'd think she would have like a size 6 foot or something. Hope she grows into them lol

Coverage was sooooo pooor! Where was Mo and the rest of the field?
@kras1184 жыл бұрын
coverage here wasn't stellar. Who else do you think should've been shown? I think Mohini's performances here did not lead people to believe she was in real contention for the team. If Annia hadn't scratched and petitioned to Trials, Mo may not have qualified at all. I do wish the coverage would show everyone who was in contention for Trials (e.g. Postell, Heenan)
@murasakino1013 жыл бұрын
@@kras118 same they always show the gymnasts they think will make the trials. It's still like that even now smh. I didn't get to watch these Olympics growing up so whenever someone new shows up and I'm like "ooh another gymnasts they could have shown". The only gymnasts here I know are Carly Patterson and mohini bardhwaj(and I'm so sorry if I misspelled her name 😭). I also know memmel and sacramone but they weren't at this meet

Yep. Imo I think she was really good and had talent but just hadn't been as consistent as the other gymnasts at the time were. If she had more time to train, she definitely could have upgraded her routine
@saragrant97493 ай бұрын
@@murasakino101she also got highly overconfident in 2004, expecting to be on the team and wasn’t going to the gym as much as she should have been. Her coach even kicked her out for a bit but eventually let her come back- as long as she was willing to put in the work. Cockiness got her nowhere.

Is it just me, or were both Kupets and Patterson grossly overscored?
@meganhigley88385 жыл бұрын
Kupets I can see. Carly was a bit but that is common at Nationals for all countries. I wouldn't say grossly overscored for Carly given that she did win the Olympic AA gold and a balance beam silver. So obviously international judges appreciated her work very much as well, just by a tenth or two less.
@ineedhoez4 жыл бұрын
I would have loved to see kuppets win the AA at the Olympics.
@saragrant97493 ай бұрын
Would never have happened. She only had a 10 SV on bars and beam. Her floor sv was 9.8 and her vault was 9.7. Carly had a 10 SV on floor and a much stronger beam and vault set. It would have been cool- but wasn’t going to happen sadly.

@AliceInGymLand11 жыл бұрын
no, they tied. Carly's score was 76.45. Courtney's score before bars was 66.85. if Courtney got 9.61 she would have won by 0.1, getting 76.55. but she got 9.6, so add that to her score and she got 76.45 which is equal to Carly.
