And he was easing up at the finish! At 16! Anyone who thinks he would not have broken 43 seconds by a big margin, if he had continued with the 400, after what he went on to achieve?

He would break 45 like a joke and could break 44 but 43 is something he would never do even if he had all the benefits of coaching . He never had that much strength.

Alan Samuel he would be able to if he put it as his main focus

@@matthewwurster1133 you're right, he gave it up and shifted to the 200 and afterwards to the 100 as well. His coach made a bet with him.if he won a race he could try out the 100 as well. Nobody thought he had the raw speed to run a 100m.

He should have trained for one year to see if he could break the 400. To hold the 100m, 200, and 400m wr would have been insane. I think he could have done it.

On a dry day without the celebrating this was a 44.8s run- at 16. Michael Johnson didn't break 45s until he was 23 years old. Let that sink in. Bolt ran a 19.9s 200m a few months after this. Again Johnson at 23 had a 19.85s 200m PB. Hard to do justice to how ludicrous this comparison is. It should not be humanly possible.

In my understanding 400m is so different from 100m, you can never do both on elite level. You have to choose. And 100m is the bigger cash cow.

@@mikebond124 Looks like he did 400m until 2019 and then switched to 100m. He was elite level in both, but not at the same time.

@@windar2390 Fred Kerley is the 6th fastest man ever in the 100m and the 10th fastest ever in the 400m. He's similar in height and weight to Usain Bolt. Bolt ran the 300m in the 3rd fastest time ever on a wet track, if it had been dry he'd probably have the record. 400m would've been a greater challenge but if anyone could do it he could.

It was terrible conditions and he completed showboated at the end yet he still ran a 45.35 at 16; if he actually focused on the 400m throughout his career I could've seen him going sub 43 or at least racking up a few gold medals
