Composer: Jacques de Villiers
Arranged by André van der Merwe
Lyrics:
Will you remember me in dreams and in silence?
Who stands amongst the Southern Cross? Who brings hope?
Dreamy images dance amongst the constellations.
In a time of mourning, we all lose power.
Remember me in the morning dew.
Recorded on 17 September 2021 at the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre

Thank goodness for that. It’s going to take generations to recover from the cruelty the Afrikaans dumped on the native Africans. Unspeakable cruelty.

I've watched this video dozens of times, and I'm finally ready to comment. Firstly, I've never heard a choral song in Afrikaans, and as a linguist, it's a real treat! I taught in China and we worked with colleagues from all over the world, and some of them spoke Afrikaans, but I never heard them speak it. Watching these students perform is a true joy. The harmonies are pitch-perfect and locked in. I do not hear a note out of place. The breath control is amazing when they crescendo and decrescendo. This is a testament to choral excellence and an honor to culture. It looks like these students really enjoyed performing this piece. Well done!

I cannot stop listening to this choir's output......I am a former opera singer /now teacher /masterclass- giver in the UK , and for me this is what all singing should be about : authentic, heartfelt expression alongside freedom of breath and body, good technique - and MAGIC! These beautiful, sincere young singers and their obviously extraordinary musical director are incredible. When I heard 'Angel' I was beyond moved. Thank you for such wonderful offerings !!

“Sing, then. Sing, indeed, with shoulders back, and head up so that song might go to the roof and beyond to the sky. Mass on mass of tone, with a hard edge, and rich with quality, every single note a carpet of colour woven from basso profundo, and basso, and baritone, and alto, and tenor, and soprano, and also mezzo, and contralto, singing and singing, until life and all things living become a song. O, Voice of Man, organ of most lovely might.” - Richard Llewellyn
