Use a Coil Spring Compressor Tool

Those spring compressor are unpredictable. I have used them quite a few times and you always treat it like ticking time bomb. I had one let go after I placed it on the bench. The spring embedded itself into the wall and created a ten inch hole on the drywall. One of the most dangerous things a diy mechanic can deal with.

Those compressors give me the willies. Dont know why, maybe visions of broken fingers and no teeth have something to do with it. 😉
