"Your goals, dreams and aspirations: if you're not achieving them, then at some level they are connected to a fight or flight response." Hear the fascinating theory behind how tapping works from Nick Ortner, who breaks it down for the Wanderlust Speakeasy crowd with a sense of humour and compassion.
"These days," says Nick, "we are activating our fight or flight responses in a variety of circumstances. Frustrated goals, mounting stress, patterns of self-sabotage: at the most basic level are stress responses related to fight or flight responses. The latest research shows us that when we hit these meridian points in the body while focusing on certain issues, we are actually sending a signal to the amydgala in the brain. The amygdala is the fight or flight response center." In this Speakeasy lecture, Nick explains how tapping can release these fears and patterns.
Nick Ortner is the producer of the documentary film, "The Tapping Solution." Nick is a "searcher,"constantly reading, exploring and experimenting with the incredible information all around that can change lives. When he found EFT Tapping, and was startled by the results, he knew he had to find a way to get this information into the mainstream. He produced "The Tapping Solution," a best-selling documentary film that features 10 people overcoming enormous challenges by using EFT Tapping. The film features experts like Jack Canfield, Bruce Lipton, Joe Vitale, Bob Proctor, Cheryl Richardson, Dr. Joe Mercola and more. He also produced the worldwide online event "The Tapping World Summit," which has been attended by over 500,000 people in the past four years (all for free!) and manages the monthly membership program, the "Tapping Insiders Club." He has produced and coordinated other project s on health and wellness, such as David Wolfe's "21 Days to Health" program, and is an owner and managing director of another documentary, "Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes In 30 Days."
Wanderlust Festival is also indebted to Hay House (www.hayhouse.com) who helped us realize the entire 2012 Speakeasy Lecture Series across all four festivals (Stratton, VT in June 2012; Copper Mountain, CO in July; Squaw Valley, CA in late July; and Whistler, BC, Canada in August). With Hay House's amazing roster of speakers (which you can witness in person at their incredible "I Can Do It" events), it's no wonder that they helped elevate the conversation at Wanderlust's Speakeasy this summer. We encourage you to stay tuned to the Hay House FB feed to make sure you know the next time one of their authors is speaking near you ( / hayhouse .
Wanderlust is also grateful to our Speakeasy Vermont partner, Omega. Founded in 1977, Omega Institute for Holistic Studies is the nation's most trusted source for wellness and personal growth. As a nonprofit organization, Omega offers diverse and innovative educational experiences that inspire an integrated approach to personal and social change. Located on 195 acres in the beautiful Hudson Valley, Omega welcomes more than 23,000 people to its workshops, conferences, and retreats in Rhinebeck, New York, and at exceptional locations around the world. eOmega.org

So, yes, the key to dealing with anything, whether physical ailments or negative beliefs is to do the emotional work first.

I can not say enough good things about this video! By tapping along with them I have uncovered and moved through traumas I did not know I had. I have a fear of being a beginer, and now I sudently remembered my first Piano audition where I got stuck when I was 6 or 7 years old! Nick is a wonderful speaker and a compassionate and very intuitive therapist. Keep the videos coming, Nick!

Hi Nick, you are an incredible young man. I had a fatal motorbike accident with my husband who died on impact. For 5 years (2011) I have been in fight or flight and my body wont let go. I cry, I can walk now after a long rehab. My daughter sat by me on life support for 2 weeks being told I wouldnt make it and if I did I will be a vegetable. Finding you has been a blessing Thank you. I have today after seeing this tape sent it to my daughter who is also stuck and struggling in New York. Thank you again.

Tapping and muscle testing are all tools for us to “tap” into our Higher Self who knows all there is to know about ourselves. Thats why it works, you are taking to the Higher Self directly. Its also a form of meditation I believe- it has helped me overcome so many fears and limiting beliefs thanks to tapping! Brad Yates is my hero, he has an intuitive way and very gifted with words and I am glad I found this video as well! 🧠💪🏽👏🏽💓🙏🏽 Namaste. I just did this for the first time, and the emotions which arose related to my neck pain from the car accident were phenomenally revealing. I had no idea until this moment that I was carrying a lot of emotional energy related to the accident, especially about the very specific issue that came up. My neck pain is greatly reduced. While I know I still have a physical injury that continues to need treatment, I can only get better physically if my emotional pain is being addressed, too. I'm sold!

Migraines: Usually 24-48 hours of vomiting, brutal agony and many wasted work or play days. After Tapping: Headache is gone in about 2 hours, and my day is light and bright after. Amazing. I was skeptical as well. Why not try it? Can't hurt. AND Migraines often result from a week of feeling like crap about quitting some project, not living up to potential and giving up on opportunities: In another word: Sabotage. Yup. :)

Several years ago I was hit from behind while leaving a parking lot. I wasn't hit very hard, but it jammed my shoulder and I've had pain in that shoulder ever since. It never occurred to me until I watched this that a lot of it was probably caused by the emotional trauma. The guy who hit me was a complete jerk. Never once asked if I was OK, kept saying my car was fine and never even got out if his car. Then he drove off and left me standing there. I had to call police to make a report and it turned out he had no insurance. The next morning my shoulder hurt like hell but when I went to the doctor they wouldn't treat it because it was a car accident. Said I'd have to pay up front (even though I had health insurance) and would need to be reimbursed by auto insurance, they could recommend an attorney etc.. Just ridiculous. I ended up winging it and never got it treated. I guess it makes sense why it still hurts. Gonna start tapping.

Trust the process. Trust the innate intelligence of the body checking the resistance around the process. I was skeptical... now after learning about patterns.... conditioning. Emotional blocks... I use tapping as a way to get back to the present and into the body... forgiveness is huge in the process. Think of it as the tool for releasing baggage.. I'm not able to do on my own. I love this process. Love and peace to ALL.

Hey Nick, thank you and Jessica so much for publicising the heck out of this. I was sceptical, because I couldn't find the background info easily. And the intro videos I could find all tapped the same points - I was like where are all the other meridians? You clearly have studied this, and I was grateful for the brief insight into the history right here. I tried it along with you, and I clearly have a lot to tap on. I don't know how much of the background is in the summit this year, but I bought it. I hope to learn the behind, this is like my dream field. But meantime I found it changed me hugely. I'm in the middle of a dairy attack: exhaustion and bloating, inability to stand tall, depression. Tapping on my cycle accident left the tiredness and sickness behind already. All that's left is the blackness under my eyes in site of almost perfect sleep. Thank you again, I hope to work with you someday and uncover more of the mystery.

Great video and information. Structural Problems can also contribute to the autonomic nervous system problems too. Meningeal compression (caused by meningeal adhesions and/or Atlas misalignment, and sunken skull due to a lack of dental height and/or missing back teeth) can cause one's autonomic nervous system to go into Sympathetic mode (fight or flight). Those being the structural causes. Atlas correction, cranial adjustments, meningeal releases/decompression, and bite splints can help ease the structural causes. A combination of AtlasProfilax/Alantotech, Neurologic Relief Centers Techniquie (NRCT), Starecta (dental splint), Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC) w/endo nasal cranial correction, and/or Neurocranial Restructuring (NCR).

As far as I have researched the EFT was derived from AFT (Attractor Field Technique) by David Hawkins. He has a free Manual to follow where conditions and disease are listed alphabetically with special attention to addiction. It’s about 80 pages. It has a face chart. It is based on the body’s emotions and meridians as well .... which is how EFT came about.

I don't like that he diminishes the effects of meditation as a way to prop up EFT. Why? They are completely different tools, and meditation is an amazing and important FOUNDATION for whole living. EFT doesn't and shouldn't replace meditation. Odd comment, Nick. You don't have to go there... just let EFT sell itself. It will.

+Darcy Simonson You are right. EFT tapping is only a temporary solution compare to 20 min of deep meditation. When u meditate the area in the brain that causing anxiety using a fMRI or EEG mesure that the brain changes. With tapping its only a relief and not changing the brain like meditation does. I use them both. But using meditation in the morning and before bed i dream and I dont have anxiety I feel peace. With EFT tapping it works , but u need to do it more often. I think he ment it is an replacement for those that cannot or have the time to meditate, but i think all should do it. After 1 week of meditation u will that your negative thougts are reduced.  You can even feel this after 1 ( 20 min ) guided medition. I think Guided medition in different ways gives you a more insight in your body .

+Darcy Simonson I think I understand what you're saying. I was a daily meditator for years (still do it, just not as consistently as I used to) and certainly know the benefits it produces. it's great for taking time to find and sit in stillness, but it wasn't releasing/healing my issues. EFT, for me, IS a meditation. I can sink deep into whatever sensations, thoughts etc are happening now, tap, and feel them releasing in that moment. I think it's all in how you use it. I do use it as a meditation/prayer/spiritual practice and it has very practical benefits in my life. in fact it makes more "classic" meditation much deeper and easier for me to do. just my perspective, nothing more :)

+jellyfish74 EFT is good stuff. What I meant to point out is that meditation is such an amazing foundation for great overall wellbeing, for staying centered. A first line of defense, so to speak. EFT is a great second step, when "symptoms" of distress sneak in and mess with us. They are just to different completely animals.

+Black Mountain EXACTLY... They are just two different completely animals. Meditation works as a first line of defense. EFT is great for unwinding/releasing issues. I am not diminishing tapping (I use it) but it seemed as though he dismisses meditation, and it is worthy in itself, quite different. Love

You just make up the dialogue yourself ie, 'even though I feel like I am not good enough, I totally and completely love and accept myself'. Just 'tap' into your mind and you will find the words and the feelings that you need to express will come out.

...and Roger Callahan got tapping from his friend, the chiropractor George Goodheart, who was the one who was intuitively guided to tap on certain points during chiropractic adjustments. Then, Donna Eden was teaching tapping in 1977, after she 'cured' her MS using tapping. George Goodheart & Donna Eden are the true pioneers, Callahan became popular with his TV interview "the 5-minute phobia cure" in '87 or '88. Gary Craig was one of Callahan's students, gave EFT to the world, refused to patent it. But got upset when some of his students had ideas like the tapping summit, and the tapping solutions book became a best seller (can you say petty jealousy?). Later, Gary targeted another one of his students, a massage therapist named Robert Smith who was searching for a way to heal his gf of schizophrenia. Guess what? Robert found a way to 'cure' the voices in her head and false reality she was in. He paired tapping with some NLP and created fasterEFT which gets you 'there' faster than any other method out there. People with meth, coke, heroin, sex addictions, fibro, lupus, and Lyme mostly go to fasterEFT. Robert was harassed by many in the EFT online community, so he changed the name to 'eutaptics' this year. Nick is backed by Hay House publishing, a giant. That's why it was easy to recruit big names like Dr Joe Vitale, Bruce Lipton, Gregg Braden, Dr Joe Dispenza. They're human beings and greed has a way of creeping in, It's become more about the money. Check out Robert Smith, fasterEFT, he has over 1200 free videos on youtube. More than anyone else in the EFT world. I personally prefer fasterEFT because your subconscious mind shows you the happy win-win version of what could have happened to you from a parallel reality, So you have the bad traumatic memory, and a new memory which isn't traumatic (ex: you were raped by 2 men on the way home. Subconscious shows you that 2 men could have seen you walking alone and offered to escort you. They make you laugh, and they end up being like brothers you never had.

It's actually fight-flight-freeze, not just fight-flight. We are sometimes paralyzed by issues and go out like those 🐐 🐐 🐐. People that want to just crawl into bed and stay there...they're being hit by the freeze part of it. Or kids who just collapse and become very quite and small...that's a form of freezing.
