Hey Justin, I've been playing guitar for 24 years now(age 15 to now at 39, learning bass before guitar). And I wanted to say even though I have been playing all this time with maybe 6months not really playing (because I lost my motivation back in 2019. But hit it hard again during 2020. Lol naturally, you know why.). I love your content and I still am always learning more from you. I haven't been able to get any of your products,YET. BUT I love how I began to think differently with my playing and venturing into different styles other than my main taste being metal. I took use guitar pro ALOT and I'd say maybe since 2009 with my first songs being avenged sevenfold that I took the time to transcribe in guitar pro from tabs off of ultimate guitar section by section. This is an amazing tool and I find it's completely under rated. I think maybe due to the price. But we'll worth it. I'm thinking of using it in guitar lessons via online. Which doing that is going to be a learning curve for me cause I don't know where to start with that lol. And the courage... Is another issue. But great video brother and keep up the great helpful tips. You're a blessing my friend and I appreciate what you provide

I love this new audio file sync feature of GP8. I've used it to sync the audio portion of a video to (accurate) tab transcriptions and the results are amazing. Because a live musician rarely plays in perfect timing (giving his/her playing a "human feel"), this ability to modify a tab line to fit the slightly variable timing of an actual recording is gold. In fact, the practice actually creates a great "tempo map" to be fed into Studio One. I've carried this synced audio file concept even further. After I'm comfortable with how the tab syncs with the audio file, I create a screen capture of the entire song being played. I then take that captured video and combine it with the original video of the artist actually playing, with his/her image playing in the top half of the screen and the synced tab playing in the bottom half. It's fantastic for learning to see the artist in real time playing the song, synced to the guitar tab. But wait... There's more! Once I am happy with that new video/audio file, I can feed that into Studio One and record very precisely while playing with the video file (and it's sound track in its own audio track). Comparing my own freshly laid-down track to the original will easily show weaknesses in my timing and other things. If this feels a bit convoluted to understand in this brief summary, Justin, I've just emailed you as sample of what I mean. I hope you enjoy it and can see these concepts can be taken even further! All the best, Robert (herrunsinn774)

Hi, I hope you’re still seeing this year later! This sounds INCREDIBLE and exactly what I need and want to be able to practice…would it be possible for us to communicate via email or something so that you give me a little bit more detail on certain parts? If so, I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
@DeutschlandGuy5 ай бұрын
Justin... this might be helpful to your viewers who are trying to sync a performance by their favorite artist with an "accurate score". It's important to note that if an audio track is not perfectly consistent during repeated sections, such as verses or choruses, or if it includes a "go to coda" in the score, syncing the score with the audio throughout will be unfeasible. This is because a performer may vary the timing slightly on repeated song sections. Therefore, even if the first verse is perfectly synced, subsequent repetitions may fall out of sync. A workaround is to create a new GP8 file without any repeats or "go to coda" sections in the score. The song should be written out completely from start to finish in an uninterrupted score. This approach may extend a 3-page score to 6 or 7 pages due to the absence of repeats. However, this method ensures that once completed, the score remains in sync throughout the performance, regardless of repeated sections. As of June 2024, GP8 does not offer the feature to mark audio sections according to the number of times they are played in the score. It would be beneficial if future updates included this feature. Until then, for songs with timing variations in repeated sections, the score must be laid out in a single, continuous sequence without repeats. You are welcome. 😋

Great overview of Guitar Pro! I would have added one more great feature in the loop mode - You can have the looping speed up over multiple loops, so you can start in a really slow tempo, and work your way up to the normal tempo.

Fully agree with Justin on this one. I tried a few different software solutions and all had parts that were missing except GP8. I find the addition of the audio track excellent when learning a song. When you have the tab and music in synch it really helps me learn and practice a piece. As you say getting the rythm correct is also a good skill and makes you really listen and consider timing, note duration etc. Overall the most useful guitar related software i have purchased. Well worth the price.

I've been using GuitarPro for some years now, and I highly recommend it. I use it for my own learning, - learning finger style patterns, learning solos; even, more recently, since I've started learning drum kit, and I find it invaluable. I copied the 'Cold Sweat' drum groove in there, and then I could slow the tempo, to learn the sticking, then gradually increase the tempo. Being able to see as well as hear what's going on has been absolutely invaluable. I've also been using it to learn to read and write in standard notation, as it has really helped my understanding of how to read and write rhythms. I worked through Levi Clay's tutorial series to learn to drive the software, and again, I would highly recommend doing that. You will save yourself a lot of time and potential frustration by following Levi's series. He is an excellent music educator, and, like Justin, is methodical and systematic in his approach. As well as my own learning, I use it all the time to do transcriptions for my students. I encourage my students to get even the free lite version on the Appstore, and then I can send them not just PDF's of transcriptions, but the GuitarPro (gpx) files, so they can play back, slow down, loop, etc. Seriously, - it's a no-brainer. This software is excellent value. A fantastic learning tool. A fantastic teaching tool. A fantastic practice tool. Just get it. You won't be sorry.

I’ve had a question about Guitar Pro that has troubled me for years! Is there a way to change the height of the stems in Guitar Pro? In Sibelius, Finale, MuseScore, and Encore, you can just click and drag them up or down. In Guitar Pro, I can't do it at all. This especially becomes an issue when writing for more than one voice, as it affects the readability.

I use GP every week when working on solos. The one thing I've always been frustrated by is the inability to tab a long slide up or down the neck (fast or slower) to an indistinct end point - the sort of thing that many players use as a kind of punctuation. If anybody knows how to tab something like that, please share.

Hi Justin, and Guitar Pro since you guys are reading this, is there a method to change the colour of each string. For example I struggle to see black on white especially when it's on tab like in Guitar Pro, so sometimes I print them out and highlight them to the string colours you get in Rocksmith video game. Red/Yellow/Blue/Orange/Green/Purple just so I can easily tell them apart.

Hi! I have a technical question. Maybe someone has faced this problem. The tuning peg for the D string is turned around to its limit (it has arrived 'home')but the string still isn't tuned. So, I've run out of the peg's ability to turn around. What should I do?

Assuming there is a situation where you couldn't turn your peg any further (which I am unfamiliar with any), you would need to start over, but make the string tighter to begin with, then tune to pitch. The note you're aiming for should be near the middle of the range of motion.
