Respected sir, being undisputedly the greatest grammarian of this generation,in spite of the youngest and the most handsome hunk, across the globe, you are earnestly entreated with folded hands to provide solution to the following issue that has baffled so many grammarians and teachers -Question --The passengers of the bus ------(were sleeping/had sleeping) when the accident happened.

100 years later: I got frustrated since I had been searching the right KZbin channel where I could learn perfect continuous since morning 😬... I had been watching lot of videos before I watched Ashish video, where I learned that perfect continuous used for time, reason 👍👍🤔

if we have an action verb, there will be an obj in the sentence and if we have a linking verb, a subject complement will be there but when we are talking about the possession of the sub. such as "He has had(possession) a crush on u for years" then in this case how do we analyse the sentence.A crush on u will be obj or complement..plz make me clear🙏

Firstly, an action verb will not have an object always. It depends whether it's transitive or intransitive. Secondly, HAD doesn't show possession in there; it shows a state of being. And yes, A CRUSH is the object of the verb HAD.
