Marion, when using acrylic paint on textiles you can use ‘fabric softener ‘ mixed with the paint. This will stop the fabric from becoming stiff. Hope the little tip will help your viewers. Mushrooms are looking great! Thank you for sharing.
@craftdipper8 ай бұрын
Thanks for that tip! Would you still dilute with water and just add a little bit of fabric softener in?
@gemmabianchi92098 ай бұрын
Craft dipper: Yes water down paints to the depth of colour you need and of course still use ‘fabric softener’ either directly on fabric or mix with the acrylic paints. It’s also a good idea just to play around and discover how different fabrics turn out. Cheers
@marionsworld248 ай бұрын
Thank you for that tip. I've never heard of using softener with the paint. But actually haven't had any bother either as I don't use the paint thickly. I will experiment though. Thanks a lot...💐😊🖌️

Hello Marion, that is turning out to be an absolutely beautiful piece of needlework. And I really appreciate the fact that you are not “precious” about being too exact with the stitching. The result is that we watch something being created organically which is so inclusive for those trying things out for the first time.

This question is not meant to be critical. I really admire your artistic stitching. I like you have developed stitching skills over the years. Do you ever struggle with the so called proper way of stitching verses raw edge large stitches associated with slow stitching? I recognize you have the skill and could do fine precise needle turn, applique, Etc. I think I’ve worked to develop the perfect small stitches until it’s nearly impossible to change. I wish I knew how to loosen up and just enjoy the creativity …..throwing perfection out the window. It’s very frustrating. I live in America and will never have the opportunity to meet you, but I think I’d love to know you. You have such a sweet kindness that is evident in your videos. I have actually thought of joining in on this journal, but I’d be way behind. I just found you recently. Thank you for sharing your talent. 😊
@marionsworld244 ай бұрын
I know exactly what you mean Dawn. I did used to struggle with it... exactly as you say. I couldn't quite understand what people were on about...slow stitching... surely it's all embroidery ☺️ But I really liked the sort of different pieces of embroidery I was seeing. It definitely looked different.. So I thought I'd try and at first I just couldn't seem to let go enough to get anything that I thought was decent. It always ended up more traditional. But..the more I've done I've sort of ended up with a hybrid type of embroidery... I draw on both types and just use whichever will get me the results I'd like to get. I think as long as you're happy with what you're doing then anything goes... traditional or modern... Try combining both things yourself. Maybe it's not for you...or maybe it is... Only you will know ☺️

Just finished last week’s assignment and was excited to see what to do this week, wow it’s gorgeous 👌so much fun searching for the right fabrics. I found a dark bronze piece with shiny bronze spots, not sure if I dare to use it 😊 I find it hard to work loosely, like a bit messy or irregular to make it look organic, I wasn’t raised that way 😂 I want to cut off fraying pieces or do a neat regular stitch, but I’m brave and following your lead. HELP! Marion, is it easier to learn how make and practice a new stitch using a hoop and then stitch on the project without the hoop?
@marionsworld248 ай бұрын
Not necessarily. It all depends on what you're intending to stitch really. If you're wanting to do some slow stitch in the hand you might as well see how to hold the fabric etc. It's nice both ways. I do stitch in the hoop a lot as a lot of my work veers into more traditional embroidery. It's sort of a crossover. Would you rather see the stitch being made in the hoop first?
@blissfulacresoffgridhomest20988 ай бұрын
@@marionsworld24 Thanks for responding! I was feeling challenged to the max learning how to make the chain stitch and trying to manipulate the material. I have never used a hoop and think that will create a whole new learning curve too. Do you have any embroidering in the hoop Videos? That would be nice to watch and why and when to use a hoop. Well, I am off to practice my slow stitched chains. PLUS Rob found a rust stained cloth for me!
