Good day Mike, is that the case for grounding lugs too? I mean, for a single or dual termination grounding lug

I'm sorry I'm confused. This was about the terminal used for the connection of equipment grounding conductors (what many call the grounding bar).

@@MikeHoltNEC hi Mike, I'm going to try to clarify my comment. We've got some cases where in some panel boards there's only two EGC in the box. On some of these boxes, we have used ground lugs that are similar to the ground lugs used for bonding bushings, but with two terminals instead of one. We attach it to the panel case with a 10/32 green screw and land our 2 EGCs in it. That's what I was trying to describe in my question. In terms of 408.40, I see there's a requirement for a grounding bar, and that it has to be secured.

Mike, it looks to me that the bar is not mounted to the pre punched holes in the panelboard. You can see them to the left and also below the bar. The holes typically have a couple of protrusions to keep the bar from rotating which are also visible. My point is, can you mount the bar anywhere in the panel? Also, is a self drilling screw (Tek) allowed or must it be a threaded hole with a machine screw? The screw(s) provided with the bars are typically a self tapping type machine screw(s). I've retrofitted a lot of ground bars in old panels in my career and am curious what fastening methods are allowed.

This is a great question and I need to open that panel, look up the instructions for the terminal bar for the EGCs. I bet it wrong! I'll make a video about this. Thank you.

sq d panels do have multiple area on each side and the bottom for the listed ground bars to be installed. this one looks correct to me(without being in person to 100% verify.) if it was not correct bar the dimple would not let bar sit correct. you can also see it is mounted with the correct machine threaded screw the bars come with. im about 90% certain its correct.

You are 100% correct, my statement was wrong! Sorry.

Yup, it seems simple enough. Perhaps tell every employer they're in trouble, or, hear me out, we standardize electrical equipment. Instead of making more rules that simple people refuse to follow, just make it harder to screw up. 😂 Design to protect the installer and their employer! 😊
