I'm glad you pointed out about the right leg being braced and not letting the weight go to the outside. That made all the difference int he world. Thanks Kirk...love the videos....big fan of yours. Wish I could attend one of your classes.

Kirk, thanks again. I have been assimilating your concepts over the last week or so, and with diligence, I'm starting to untangle the mess that the GGA concrete feet and bending transition sequence made of my move at the ball. Today, using your set up and transition sequence, I started to make some powerful impact and saw really notable differences in purity of strike, trajectory and probably 15 to 20 yards per club. I feel a little foolish for dumping a whole year into GGA, and not listening to my nagging suspicions. At least I am coming to your methodology with a good command of a neutral grip and uncocked wrists. You're a gamesaver! Prosit!

HI Sean, At least you only wasted a year and hopefully not too much money on them. I wasted more than ten years trying to copy Moe. I also taught for Graves which is where I formed my opinion that they only care about Money, NOT helping anybody play better golf.

Love your videos Kirk. Natalie and I learned a lot at your school in December. We’ve only played one round since. We played Hualalai in Hawaii. I shot 78 to my surprise. Pretty lucky actually, 3 birdies, plus two chip ins for par😂🌴 Natalie had a smooth 85. We were both pleased and feel your instruction was helpful. We look forward to seeing you again

Agree, find a nice flat fairway bunker and hit shots out with different clubs, find out real fast how that stable back leg and weight on inside of trail leg is so important.

I went out to the practice range and tried your version of the single plane swing. It works! I was getting distance ( 200 m= to my usual distance) with my driver with little effort and very consistent ball flight/ accuracy was much improved. What is more, rather than trying to make my swing a clone of Moe Norman's , I was able to utilize what felt natural to me. Then I went and played just one hole. I found I had to adjust my grip a little weaker on the right hand to get the iron shots to stop going too far left. 4 shots and I had it dialed in! Thank you Kirk, you have made my day.

AWESOME!!!! My goal is to always help people improve as quickly as possible. If a method truly is easier you should see improvement quickly. In most cases this will not ever be possible trying to exactly copy what another human being does. That is probably the reason that nobody has come close to achieving the results that Moe Norman did even though his swing has been taught for over 25 years now. Keep it simple!!!

@543whitey4 жыл бұрын
The way you straighten or 'post up' your lead leg is more of a conventional style than Norman's, who bent it a bit to brace into the shot. That limited the hip opening a bit, but that was the point: limiiting that movement made for a more repeatable swing. It was a feature, not a bug. Also much easier on the lumbar regoin.
@Setup4Impact4 жыл бұрын
IT is a natural move, not unnatural like Moe who was compensating for being too far from the ball. From teaching both options it is VERY clear that having the leading leg straightening through impact benefits 99% of golfers with more distance and accuracy. You do not want to restrict turn in the golf swing. The bent left leg also puts MORE stress on the lower back as it blocks the hips from turning. It also looks ridiculous to keep the lead leg bent and trail foot down.

Hi Kirk! Do you find that it is easier to maintain the trail leg inside brace with a longer club? I do it very well with the driver, but with 9 iron or wedges, I tend towards the improper move you showed that you see in students. It leads me to wonder if it would be easier to just build lighter longer short irons, using single length components for example. I also wonder about stance width and how it relates to maintaining the brace. Go too narrow, it's harder to do it. Going too wide creates sluggish forward movement.
@Setup4Impact6 жыл бұрын
Hi Snowman!! I feel like it is more difficult with longer clubs maybe because it feels like I make a longer swing. Trying to keep the weight on the inside of the trailing foot helps me the most. If I were to try single length I would build a 4, 5, and 6 iron to match my 7 iron specs. If I could get the proper distance gaps (12.5 yards?) between clubs that would be great. I guess I will try it at some point. Cannot see myself with 7 iron length wedges though.

hi, I'm having problems at the moment with shanking and pushing my irons to the right. I can't feel my back swing in regards to my take a way and down swing again. I can't feel if I'm going straight back , under the shoulder or over the top, How do i stabilize it and get back the consistency. ( some times I feel I'm tilting my spine to much as apposed to pushing my hip to my left leg. ) What am I missing?
@Setup4Impact6 жыл бұрын
First you need to know what you are doing. You can video yourself using the free V1 golf app and then check it in slow motion. Shanking is a sign of being too close to the ball at impact. Moving farther away at setup helps most people. My drills also teach you how to work on getting every aspect of the swing correct. learninggolf.tv

I think my legs are good. My upper body flexibility is around what Kurt's is. Would improving my flexibility do much for my distance with the single-plane swing?
@Setup4Impact6 жыл бұрын
Flexibility will help as well as strengthening legs, core, and shoulders. Training for explosive power like box jumps, wall balls, kettlebell swings, etc...all are awesome.

Moe could hit the ball farther when he wanted to. When I saw him at around 65 years old he could still carry the ball around 240 to 250 yards which is amazing for his age. I guess he hit is shorter in his playing days as the drivers were actually wooden with steel shafts. Obviously the wide stance and restricted hip and leg drive cost him distance though. In his day accuracy was more important than distance. It was the same when I grew up playing in the 70's and 80s. It changed with equipment around 1990. Today there is more of a premium on distance, but you still better be able to find the ball. Distance potential is probably different for every person. Someone with good flexibility and average strength should with proper mechanics be able to hit the ball between 250 and 300 yards with the driver. In that case a 3 iron should go around 200 yards. I try to help each individual reach the potential in both accuracy and distance with as little work as possible. For some 200 yards with the driver is the goal, other can hit it over 300 yards.

I don't know who's right or wrong, but ten minutes ago I watched a video analysis of Bryson's swing that claims he does totally the opposite It claims that Bryson doesn't use his legs at all at impact. Rather, his legs are docile until way past impact. You guys are driving me crazy. .
@Setup4Impact4 жыл бұрын
I am not sure how "docile" legs can move as aggressively as Bryson's clearly are. I have a newer video that focuses on his legs linked below. Keep in mind that all golfers hitting the ball far are making use of what is known as ground forces. That is where the legs are pushing into the ground so that they can turn their bodies faster. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJenmJloh96knqM
