Great content! After so many years in the hobby I have to try and make my armies unique! I love me a theme and kit-basing everything!

Great vid and coincidentally interesting timing for me on this! I was asking a hobby friend literally 18hrs ago about his process for picking a new army in a game he's not played yet! I often get paralysed by choice and the "what if I pick the wrong thing?!" of it all!

What army are you thinking? I tend to think about if I'll enjoy painting the minis which is normally the biggest blocker for me.

@@PluckeesChannel My conundrum at the moment is working out what to load my first set of Van Saar with. I have previously magnetised just to avoid having to commit! It is SILLY, but I find this my biggest blocker! Perhaps a hang over from being a 3rd/4th Ed Tau player... we got NO love back then 😆

That's a reasonable justification, no one wants to get burnt twice! I'm not super fussed about WYSIWYG as I think as long as the guns and such are distinct, it becomes easy for your opponent to see what the difference is and what models are using what. That way, you don't need to worry so much. Just do what you think looks coolest - rool of cule!

Nice tips! Your new project sounds very interesting! I based my current Imperial Guard project on a more or less napoleonic colour scheme from Austria. White/Cream for the infantry, green jackets and beige trousers for mobile infantry (with Chimeras), red-brown for artillery and a couple of different styles for specialised units. However, I have only 1 1/2 units finished so far. My further plan is to put a combined army on the table consisting of several regiments, like infantry and artillery one regiment, tanks another regiment, specialised troops another regiment. Like it is described in the books and the lore. No single regiment should have access to all sort of armament.

That sounds incredible- I’d love to see what you’ve painted up so far!

Excited to see revolutionary themed guard :D I am also extremely curious about how you will do the bright red trousers. I feel that element might be tricky.

Why am I watching this? I’ve been in the hobby for two years and have 14 Age of Sigmar armies and 8 40K armies. I don’t need to know how to start a new one 😅

Instead of selling your internal organs to buy overpriced GW products, either buy secondhand, buy alternatives or 3D print minis for a fraction of what GW charges for a single paintbrush.

Only thing I found wrong with the video is saying the Krieg are modeled after WW2 French. The are WW1 GERMAN soldiers. (You know the guys that used chemical and biological warfare in trenches?) the history education in European countries is abysmal.

No, I said WW1 French soldiers, and then showed a photo of a French WW1 soldier - the Krieg guardsman models show the same greatcoat styling, including the pinned back front. The gas masks are of a similar German style, but the old steel legion are more German (a bit more WW2 tho).
