Have done it for over a year. Dig next to a big rock ( used for towels) down to the clay or rock layer. Pinpoint . Over 20 rings and 100 silver coins.

Great hint. I've thought about similar things, but needed a reminder. Basically looking for any places on the beach that things get caught and stop moving around. I'll use this. I do a fair bit of river detecting and follow the same rules, looking for it's near the bottom of big rocks, places where stuff gets caught and stops moving. Great straightforward video. Thanks again. Hope it's nice weather over there!

This is a great tip! I need to upgrade my pinpointer. I bought a cheapie one, and it's useless. I haven't seen any of these in Mexico where I am, and the idea can apply to a variety of situations. Thank you.

I used my pinpointer in the rocky pools of the beach at lowest tide and found a ship's sail needle & a what I thought was encrusted tat at the time but turned out to be a Roman bronze Token of sorts 😁

Love your videos, really informative😊 My mate lost his white gold wedding ring on the beach, can anyone give me a target ID for white gold in a beach environment? My own white gold ring comes up at 11 on the surface... But are there different qualities of white gold with differing numbers? Thank you
@leesmith2798 Жыл бұрын
I can't tell you the VID numbers because I don't know what type of machine you are running. I can tell you this. Remember this expression: ”Golden pull tabs.” Which means gold and pull tabs. Pull tabs come in all shapes and sizes depending on how old they are. Gold rings are made in many shapes, sizes, and purities. These two items mimic each other. Short version: Gold sounds and VID’s, like pull tabs. Most rings are louder than pull tabs and appear bigger on the screen, even if they are a few inches under the ground. White gold and yellow gold: A 6 mm, 6.6 gram, size 9, 14 karat , white gold wedding band will sound just like the same exact ring in yellow gold. It will VID just a bit higher than a nickel and sound like it's right under your coil, if it's only a few inches down. If your white gold ring is the same karat as your friend's white gold ring, or even if it's not, Throw yours on the ground and spend some time swinging over it to get the feel for what rings sound like and look like on your screen. Now get out there and find your friend's ring!

@@leesmith2798 Thank you @leesmith2798 I have an Equinox 700 and I take all your advice on board! I obviously already have a grand selection of ring pull tabs, but will defo be doing a better comparison and take more note of strength of tone etc. I think the tide has been in and out far too many times to find this ring now, as I have dug everything that came up as a strong 11/12 in and around a large area where it was last seen. I appreciate your help and will get back out there😊

nice idea i pull a big maget behind me and it gets all the copper coins in the sand quicker but its heavy and if i put magnet in my pocket the shovel sticks to it and i free up my left hand
@hamshackleton Жыл бұрын
Copper doesn't stick to a magnet! Perhaps you are thinking of the steel core in the small coins that has a copper skin on it?
@johnclaytonmetaldetectingi8236 Жыл бұрын
@@hamshackleton the uk coins are crap metal and some do stick to the magnet

currently down in Wales doing some beach detecting. I'd say of lately that people are getting very tight and not dropping much ......... except for their trash lol

This might be a solution for me. My sister in law lives on the beach, but I can't find much. I realized the reason was that they are constantly moving the sand around to rebuild the beach I guess. (This is in the US), but there certainly are areas around pilings where I could dib.

You can use the quest max pro pinpointer with discrimination and you dont care about that iron bolts you mentioned
