It's a simple but neat bit of design. The four cylinder version is quite powerful, and always self starting. The USE catalogue shows a V8 built from them. I've recently purchased a couple of USE steam plants which will be featured on my KZbin channel soon.

@@SteamandThings You should rig up a drive shaft to them with a propeller to demonstrate the power it can output. Would be pretty neat.

Take a look at the video in the link below - it's one of the old test tanks from the Cheddar Models factory. I was going to try the USE steam plant on it but the centre height of the engine was quite a bit higher than that of the prop shaft alas. Nice. I've noticed a number of model steam boats on 'the bay' which make use of this engine and or multiples of it.

@@dhutch2000 I think there is one listed at the moment with a twin cylinder version. It is non reversing and they have fitted it with one of those fancy reverse thrust propellers.
