Thank you for this excellent tutorial. It worked flawlessly, right down to the clever ALT-TAB trick that go me past a sticking point of an unresponsive CMND screen that all other "experts" assumed I knew so they never mentioned it. I've tried ALL the other tutorials. I searched and tried all the online web pages that claim to be foolproof instructions on setting up a new desktop (or laptop) without having to become a victim of vampirical MS. This site was my last ditch effort before boxing up the new computer and sending it back. This step by step worked for one rarely recognized reason. It does not assume ANYTHING. Every step is perfectly illustrated and explained. What is rare about that is, in my 50 years of dealing with computers, tutorials are written by experts, not professional communicators. They experts know much but also assume too much about what the student knows or understands. Steps that the expert considers as normal and basic are often not mentioned. That's where the trouble starts. But this tutorial is obviously created by that rare computer expert who has either been professionally trained in effective communication or has developed his natural gift for it.

Hey Joe! It means a lot to know my videos helped someone. As far as my style of Presentation, I have a large community of retired folks and the feedback I get from them is the detailed instructions and slow pace I operate at is much appreciated so I try to keep that in mind. Thank you for your feed back. It is much appreciated.

Can you sign in to your account and then sign out of Microsoft but not the computer? Allowing you to brows through Brave or Proton VPN?

Hey, Yes, Thats what you see me doing in the video. I created a local account and then signed out of the microsoft account on my PC. When I sign in to 365 and show the Microsoft apps, Im signed in with a browser, and not my PC

Wonder, when you were in the Windows Settings, there is a tab called Privacy & security. Could you not there switch off those things you switched off in the newly installed tool program? Or that program gives you more items that otherwise would not be turned off in the Windows Settings?

Hey, Its not all there together for you. You have to dig around to find all of the different settings. Theres also other advantages of using Wintoys that I covered in the video before this one. Thanks for watching.

Because my laptop has essentially disintegrated from overuse my wife bought me a new Lenovo laptop as a surprise. It needs a 1TB HDD to be fitted for it to meet my requirements, which I have, and I buried under work for the next two week so have to stagger on with the 'wreck' until I get past critical deadlines before doing anything with the new machine. I am too deep in to switch now. However, the new laptop comes with Windows 11 pre-installed, of course. Looking forward to putting on a local account... after I totally blat Windows and put on MX Linux KDE. Local accounts ONLY! Just sayin'.

If you havent already, when you first setup the new PC you can bypass the microsoft account setup requirement. I did a video on that as well.

@@RayKnowsTech Yes, I am aware. However, bypassing the nigh on forced Microsoft account requires various degrees of 'magic' now. I have a friend who is on Window 11 and he described the process... and described it as 'evil.' As it is, I am in the fortunate position of not needing Windows only Propitiatory software and have been on Linux since 2012 so I always 'bat' Windows on any new laptop anyway. I replace when the machine wears out rather than to upgrade the OS. I do accept many people are truly locked in - cue Graphic Designers and 'Photoshop.' However, at this point. going Windows would actively harm my business.

Hello Ray, First of all let me wish you, your family and your near & dear ones, a happy new year 2025. Though I am 9 days late in wishing, I pray this wish of mine goes stronger and true to cherish. I have a desktop PC running Edition Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2, System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor with Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3330S CPU @ 2.70GHz 2.70 GHz, Installed RAM 7.90 GB and MS Office 2019 Now with the mentioned configuration, can I have the latest Windows Edition and the latest MS Office versions (if not the latest, then which upgraded edition, both for Windows & MS Office) installed, up and running worry free and without paying any more money to Microsoft? Is it possible, if YES, then could you be kind and help me with the solution. As it is you are doing a great service to democratize the free usage of knowledge. I don't believe true knowledge can be directly related to the cost of monies; but it can be sought if one is curious enough and a true seeker of knowledge. I am from Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Thank you so much. Waiting for your response. 🙏♥🙂
