Scotty, got a question...i live near the GM plant in Missouri. Now im north of the plant and there are Fields full and i mean full of Colorados and Canyons (i have pictures) in huge gravel storage lots. Its by a quarry and what used to be open field (farmland). Were talking hundreds if not thousands of what used to be Just Chevy Colorados but now im seeing Canyons too, which is basically the same mid size truck. Now i thought maybe its the microchip shortage but it doesn't make sense if its just the one model. What could be going on in your opinion?? I hope this is the best ways to reach you. Thanks!!

IMHO, learning to "turn a wrench" has never been more useful than right now. Not only to save money keeping your current ride healthy, but to take advantage of bargain opportunities in the used market. Before the pandemic, I couldn't even change my own air filter. I learned how because I had to. Now I can do most basic maintenance tasks (tune ups, brake pads, oil changes) without any trouble. And if I can do it, _anyone_ can.

I just bought a 2005 Toyota Camry LE. I pick it up tomorrow morning from a guy that sells as a private owner, but really turns cars over and takes only cash. I did a test drive, but didn't take it on the highway. It was rush hour. It drives comfortably, it is a "spare" car for me as I have been having to put a lot of money into my 2005 Silverado. Everyone thinks I should dump the truck, but I LOVE my truck! So, I'll have this for running to the store and such and the truck for utility and safety depending on the circumstances. Thanks, Scotty, for all the videos on Toyotas. I might never had given one a chance if it weren't for watching so many of your videos. BTW - and I'm sure you already know - this car was manufactured in Kentucky! USA!

There’s too much money in the system, too many incentives to artificially constrain production of new vehicles, too much greed, etc. Short of a full blown depression or financial collapse, the prices you see today are as cheap as you will ever see again.

Our 2013 Subaru Outback with 115k miles started eating a quart of oil every 1k miles and needed an engine rebuild to replace cam seals. It also had frame damage from an accident. We sold it at a dealer auction for $7500 a few weeks ago. I’m not complaining but the market is crazy!

Problem is, like what happened to me, I had to get a car. Mine was at 290K miles, and was just not reliable anymore. I pushed it off as long as I could and started looking. Everything in my lower price range was total crap and no guarantee it was better than my current car. So many scammers out there too. It took me months before I stumbled on something. I hated to have to buy during this market, and financially I was limited and had to go through a dealership, which sucked even more. Ended up sort of lucking out, doing a private deal through the dealership with an employee. Still paid way way too much for a used car though, but at least I got something that was nice and maintained, I liked, and would work for my situation, and didn't have to pay the dealer fees. Still pissed off I had to buy during this time period.

The thing I am dealing with right now is a cheaper than normal alternator the dealership put in. After getting the car it was clear that it was going to be a little safer to activate and start the car with the fan knob on high since that was the reason the original went out but if you use much of the service in the car that alternator will just stop charging so to try to get more miles out of the alternator you have to drive more carefully and not decide to pull out in front of anyone!

A guy buying a $70,000 truck = a monthly payment of over $700 then $200 car insurance and $200 for gas = $1100+ for a vehicle that most young people aren't making $50,000 = $3500 month budget after taxes. The REPO man will pay him a visit once he misses payments and unable to catch up. Banks sell these REPO cars to Dealers and Dealers sell them at price gouging where people are still buying them!

People need to quit buying at these crazy car prices. In 2022, Ford sold 653,957 F-Series while General Motors sold 513,354 Chevy Silverados and Stellantis sold 468,344 Ram pickups. When people stop buying at these outrageous price gouging prices, the prices will go down. Dealers can jack up a price over $30,000 MSRP and someone still chooses to buy it. That reenforces the price gouging going on.
