Have the same car, got around the shifting problems by re-programing the computer, some mechanics that know what they're doing will do it easily for 30 bucks, also got an aftermarket stereo system with Bluetooth

Hey! I’m having the same issue with the shifting. Is this the same thing as a transmission relearn? I got quoted $107 for that from a Subaru mechanic.

I own a 2010 Impreza Outback Sport which is one model higher than the car here, and when I bought it brand new it was nowhere near the $35,000 you mention. As a matter of fact, I have the window sticker still. It says, with delivery charges, that it was $22,100. I am not sure where you got your original cost numbers, but the only thing that cost $40k would be the WRX STI model. As for your pro's and con's list, I would add that tire changes are super expensive because if you ruin a single tire, you will likely replace all four as the transmissions cannot handle very much circumferential difference between tires.

If a 2010 impreza has more hp and torque than the new impreza but both do 0 to 60 in about the same time does the older impreza still feel more powerful because of its extra hp and torque or is it just a wash?

I have a manual 2011 Impreza (2.5 litre, 170 hp) and my dad has a CVT 2015 CrossTreck (2.0 litre, 148hp), and the difference is really noticeable. 148 hp is just not enough, especially considering power is somewhat diluted while being distributed to all four wheels. Get a 2011 stick, or wait another 5 years (ish) for the new engine.

Perfectly fine. It's the same vehicle. Years ago, I test drove a brand new WRX sedan and Hatch (when they still made WRX hatches) and the sedan 'creaked' a bit more than the hatch. It might of been that particular test vehicle but I've always liked the hatches over the sedans.

Thinking of switching from a 2012 Ford Focus to one of these. The focus is an automatic dual clutch with a sport mode. The computer is also terrible at calculating and so I now avoid using sport mode. The transmissions in the newer focuses are terrible partially due to the computer but also the dual clutch system. I do not want a manual for a daily driver where I live. Sooo is this going to have similar issues with the automatic version? Would it be safe to drive it in sport mode only to fix sloppy shifting without shortening life of the transmission? I don't want to be repairing transmissions over and over again...hence why I am wanting to swap from my focus which otherwise is great.
@matthewswank58016 жыл бұрын
Also, online it says that just the base Impreza can get up to 260 or so HP. Anyone know if that is true? Or is it referring to WRX. Thing is, seems like the WRXs start at around 300.
@CarsNToys6 жыл бұрын
No issues yet with transmission and the vehicle just passed 126k. Power wise, the turbo versions push out a lot more hp. I'm afraid the N/A engines aren't incredibly powerful. Good luck!

Good video man! Just curious on what you think I should look for when going car shopping for one of these? Is there any common problems with them or signs to look for. I was looking at some 08's but feel its smarter to pay the extra little bit to get a newer and more reliable car. Thanks
@CarsNToys8 жыл бұрын
If you like the wrx or sti model, I'd try to get one that's as close to stock as possible. If you're looking for a non-turbo version like this car is, I'd definitely go with a stick over the automatic. It's a very sloppy and slow at shifting.
@grewGRASDGA8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for getting back to me so soon, I've been looking online for a while now. I was thinking about the wrx but feel it might be out of my price range. I also have only been looking for a stick Impreza, guess that's why its harder to find one. Going to go take a look at one on friday but seems like the price is lower then it should be (Asking 6995 CDN$ for a 10' Impreza, when I've seen 08's with the same milage go for 7000$-800$) Anyways thanks for getting back to me and awesome videos. Depends. If it's well maintained. For example, I came across an Outback recently with 174k miles. However, always serviced at the dealer. And the head gaskets were done. The head gasket for this vehicle is just starting to leak at 150k.
