My husband bought a red Alfa Romeo MiTo pre-covid, he sent back a lease car and just needed a cheapie to get him by for a bit. He paid £2k an it was a nice little car. We named it chip as the bonnet was covered in stone chips. At that price and age I don't think people care as long as it runs well

I could listen to your straight talking all night. I'm self employed too, but not motor trade, and have stopped worrying about quiet times because before you know it gets busy again. Regarding the Seat Leon, I think you would be going against your own principles by retailing it due to the mileage. Will make a nice car for someone but you don't want warranty issues at that kind of mileage.

1:55 im one those people if ive got doubt i get belt changed. i changed belt on i20 on first service not long after i got it its only for water pump and power and last thing want is to get stranded because of it no knowing how old but my mechanic says it was still ok still got him to change it, same with mot i say no advisory so fix it before you take it so anything give even little doubt sort it. way we should all be maintain your car well

Li, the red Seat is probably worth trading on. you've already got so much in the repairs pipeline it could end up sitting around for ages like the FIAT 500 NY Taxi or that old white Punto you had at the MOT garage for ages. on the suject of that little yellow 500, maybe you could do a video showing its current state after (I'm guessing) it being used as a donor car lol.

Great video, retail the Ibiza, it looks ok for the price you are going to pitch it. If your Spidey are tingling about it then it's probably ok, and the 1.6 is a good engine, at least it was for me ( in a polo).

Personally I’d trade the Seat on and play it safe. Also saves a space for something a bit better on the pitch that’ll likely give you less headache.

With regards to the red Seat I would put it on the forecourt but state that no warranty will apply with it. I reckon it will sell.

The only problem with that is you are still liable under the trading standards laws. The only thing you can do is to sell it as spares or repair but the buyer cannot drive it away. It has to be trailered or towed.

He could but the consumer rights would still apply unless it was sold as spares/repairs with no test drive given and it leaves the premises on a truck or trailer.

🤔🤔🤔 Move to Driveway!! Sold as Seen as Warranty cannot be issued on a Driveway 👍 A Trader uses a separate part of a V5. Doesn't own the Vehicle hence NO Tax required and can be Tested on the Road. NO VEHICLE IN THE UK HAS TAX UNLESS OWNED ON LOGBOOK(V5) VEHICLE MUST HAVE MOT TO GAIN TAX.......MOT is updated daily!! TAX is LAST DAY OF THE MONTH👍

If the seat is q.6 sfi it'll do over 200000 miles if looked after and bodywork gets the sheep dip underneath the lanolin oil spray. I've got the 1.6fsi octavia 2008 q48000 miles doend use a drop of anything.

To be fair to you as you are a honest second hand car dealer (to far away for me) I would of sent the bill to the mechanic as he broke the mirror but at least it's picking back up for you now 👍

Think you have to cut the mechanic some slack. So much on a car is designed to break if you try to take it apart. Glass is at its weakest along the edge so getting inside a wing mirror without separating the casing first which might in turn mean getting a door panel off can be tricky. Time is money so a replacement glass might be the cheaper option.

Think you should sell the Seat Ibiza at 130,000 it's a mileage someone will still buy if at right price & should get 2 or 3 years out. If you have £600 stick it up at £1295/1395 so as not to have it standing around too long and say as it's cheap , if you normally offer 3 months warranty it only has a month. I'm sure as long as you have doubled your money sell it, certainly looks half decent 130,000 miles cars I'll buy as our second car for a cheap motor.

You - Chops Garage and High Peak - 3 YT dealers I follow - different types and values of cars but the same principles run through you all. You will only put your name to a car that is properly done - mechanics, paint and interior so at least a car goes out of the door that is as good as it can be given its age and mileage

Turbo issues, engine is also based on a corsa so can suffer with chain faults, rocker cover breather issues, leaking water pumps and thermostats. To name a few 😁👍

Having lived in Europe some of my life 100k miles is quite low for a car they seem to have 150-250 k kilometres on a lot of cars not so throwaway. Ibiza will sell at the price u talking. I’m a firm believer you can tell how the car is in general when it drives well?

We pay vat margin, its a tax at 16.6% used on 2nd hand used cars. Take the selling price and minus off the purchase price, what ever is left apply 16.6% and that's your tax. Regardless of how much you spent on it. You can offset your vat paid out against this but trust me the vat man always wins and gets more. 🤣👍

The early 1.2 engines are known for using loads of oil which leads to issues, fixed in the later versions. The engine is Renault derived so you're not exactly getting Nissans famous reliability. Personally I steer clear of the small CC turbo engines.
