Agreed. I bought my 2017 SRT with 5000kms on it for $15k cheaper than new and it was like 8 months old. Now I’m looking to trade for a used Hellcat.

I've had my 15 hellcat for 2.5 years. Paid 50k for it with 8k miles, one owner car. It has been Nickel and diming me lately out of warranty. Bad wheel speed sensors, busted/ leaking radiator, bad turn signal led that can't be serviced separately from the assembly. To me the biggest thing to take into consideration on buying any Chrysler product is consider how much warranty is left because any of the problems I have had could happen to any model.

Excellent points! One factor that makes me debate a new scat over an older scat is the widebody.

Also you touched on a well known point in the car world. New cars carry an insane premium. Even buying an additional warranty for the Hellcat's supercharger on a used model is very cheap. I bought a 3800 mile example for well under 20k for an equivalent new. Scat or cat, extremely low mileage 1 owners abound and the Redeye will continue suppressing 2018 and prior years.

I have recently found your channel and i would like to thank you for that great advice you give.First im 18 and in college i was thinking of buying a scatpack but you opened up my eyes and i realized i rather should move out of my moms before i get a car like that and i will never buy new so i wont take that big hit on depreciation. In my opinion the only reason someone should purchase a brand new scatpack is if you want the widebody, if you simply just want to accomplish getting a brand new car off the lot or if you want to lease one and always have the current year anything other than that you should definitely consider a used one great video

This video is over a year old at this point. I'll admit I went for the New Scat Pack but with the market in Aug/Sept of 2020 for me it was the better choice. Used Scat Packs are actually still more than what I paid new for the same, or less, options. Looked at Hellcats and they had drifted back up as well. In a normal market I think the buying advice given here is right on target. Right now, it just wasn't relative for me. I could have waited out the market and went for a used Scat Pack or Hellcat. Thing is with Covid I don't know how long that will play out and with the used car market really crazy right now I traded in a vehicle and was able to actually get money of the new Scat on top of the deals being offered. I love the Hellcat, and will probably have one at some point, but for me it's about driving the last true muscle car and the 392 isn't slow by any means.

Jeff Durling Sounds like you made a good decision. Right now (Sept 2020) is not a good time to buy a used car. With new manufacturing limited, the used market has heated up and driven up prices. I’m always tracking car prices and it is amazing to see used Hellcats going to for $7-8k more than they were pre-Covid. I got rid of my Hellcat in July and the dealership then listed the car for almost the same price that I paid for it two years and 20k miles ago! I don’t track new car prices as closely but it looks like they’ve ticked upward as well. In any case, enjoy your Scat! At some point down the road I’ll probably get another Challenger and I’ll likely opt for the Scat Shaker.

Totally agree with your video. The only time you should buy a new car is .... well, never. Kidding, of course. But the only time it makes sense is when the new model has something substantially better than last year's model. Like if it makes 100 more hp. And even then it may be better to wait a year or two for it and then buy it used.

Excellent points man! Buying a good used Challenger of any trim is the smart thing to do always, I'm very happy with my slightly used Blacktop Edition with Super Track Pack with only 14K on it for $28,000, why pay $44,000 plus for a base Hemi Challenger.

What is really comparable is a new Scatpack Widebody vs a used Hellcat. those 2 cars are very similar in price. What it comes down to is the look of the Widebody vs the extra 200HP. I wrestled with that for 6months. Best used Hellcat I found was a 2016 A8 with 15K miles for $49K. I went with a brand new scatpack widebody and paid $48K with a lifetime pwertrain warranty. for the used Hellcat, I looked into extended warranty and also replacing the rear tires with something wider...when I added in those costs, the Hellcat was a lot more. I love the look of the Widebody and there are not that many out there yet, so it stands out. Can't go wrong either way though

Im in the same boat right now. Already had a 2015 sublime scat pack. Fun car. Sold a couple years ago. I miss it. Looking at used Hellcats, but a base 2020 Scat Pack Widebody A8 is down to 40K right now. Just test drove one yesterday and offered 38K. They were asking 43K AFTER $4850 rebate...final offer they gave me was 40K plus tax and fees. Almost did it but they don't have my Go Mango color I really wanted. Only octane red and white. Hellcats 45-48K...new Scat pack widebody base, 40k...hmmmm help!

MAD118 yeah....weekend car for me too, but was a year too early.....widebody looks great and get a ton of compliments. Not many widebodys out there so it catches people’s eye......I do notice that a lot of guys notice the car and their eyes go right to the badge to see if my car is a hellcat. 392s would be a lot better if they weren’t so expensive to mod and the PCM wasn’t encrypted. If I tune I lose my warranty

Turns out I can`t buy brand new for export and I found a fully loaded Scat Shaker for 30 grand and I feel like it`s a hell of a deal I spent 60% of my money on it and I can enjoy it from day one because it`s already used....

Can't go wrong either way, but if you can find a hellcat that hasn't been abused, it's well worth it. They're about as cheap as they're gonna get until people start trading them in with 100k on them.

I picked up my SRT used and saved 12-15k and then added BBS wheels, Barton shifter, Exhaust, Tuner and all the other addon's and still didnt come close to the money I saved and had a car styled to my specific individual tastes....(plus mine is a GWE so I will keep it FOREVER...I've had it 5-6 years now and it had just at 10k miles on it and now it has 37k...its a weekend special day kind of car vice a daily)

The majority of used Hellcats are beat to shit and usually out of warranty. Those who purchased the mopar extended warranty for their Hellcats still have them. Personally I would get a Hellcat new for the peace of mind and go for the scatpacks used.
