The lining up your own financing before you even go do the dealership, was enough to earn you a new sub.
@coldrolled15 жыл бұрын
One important note to understand, the "finance manager" is the best salesman in the dealership. Just say no to everything he offers. And the reason it takes soooo long at the dealer - its all planned to wear you down! So get your financing done with your own bank before you go in - set the parameters of the buy and stick to it! Be prepared to walk away - there's always another deal out there and another beautiful car.

I just bought my used 17 hellcat in March with my own financing, it's the way to go, however dealers dont like it cause they dont get all their financing, protection package kick backs. But it does give you more negotiation leverage in my opinion. Black 22k miles leased car 1 owner. So far so good.

Its amazing how many people don't understand the last step. Dealers get a cut if they can talk you into one of their banks. Always know before you go in, what your bank will give you and the rate. You can pay so much more for the same car someone else got if you skip this.
@vinniecorleone626 жыл бұрын
Excellent points, I agree. I talked my dealer down $6000 by walking away on my Challenger for two weeks with only 14K miles on it with Flowmasters, resonators deleted & window tint in flawless condition. I locked in at a 2.99 interest rate with only $50 down & obtained a $1000 cut & polish paint correction on top of it by waiting the very last day of the year when the dealership is highly motivated to blow out all older models.

Couple other points, wait until the last day of the month before buying and buy at the end of November. You will get the best deal you possibly can. Dealers have quota's to hit and they get bonuses for hitting them - they turn in their numbers at the end of the month. A rear wheel muscle car - for most - will be garaged in winter which also means the market really slows on these type of cars if you live in a 4 season zone in those colder months. Also, at the end of the year they want to move product to make room for the new models on their lot - so if they have a Hellcat and it isn't sold by November, they know they aren't selling it until March/April at the earliest. They will pay for that carry on the car = loosing profits on the sale. Warm weather state, forget all what I said in regards to the 4 seasons states. I have done this multiple times and got fantastic deals.

How to Deal with Finance Managers: Based on Personal Success -Let them think you might buy the extended repair plan or whatever bogus they're offering. -They will try harder to pull strings with both the price and the interest rate. -My initial price was 23,000 and the first offer for IR was 6.1% -After I stated "was planning on choosing my own bank" as "their offer was 5.xx%" - The Finance guy magically was able to talk his partner creditor down to 4.xx%, and after he was convinced he would sell me the extended plan, He let me talk down the price to under 21k. I didn't buy the plan, and I also didn't have another bank with an offer. Yet I now own a 2014 sexy plum crazy rt challenger for 15% less than advertised, from a Chrysler dealership.

That's why you never trade your car in at the dealer. You are better off selling it yourself in most cases.
@mikebythesun6 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it makes perfect sense to trade in, depending on the value of the vehicles and the tax rate of the state you’re buying in. If you get a few grand more selling privately, you’re now putting that difference to make up for the tax credit you’re not getting doing a trade in. Every situation/deal is different, so I never say never. For me, I saved about $3000 in taxes doing the trade, which is about what i would have gotten selling privately above the trade in, so it was a wash.

A used Hellcat. I shudder to think of how hard that car was ridden and how poorly cared for by the previous owner. I very much understand depreciation and value but people should think about long term costs of buying a car that was likely driving in the "red zone" every mile for the time the previous owner had the car......

Theres a big difference from laying some rubber here and there to a car that was pushed hard ,and always pushed hard...I am confident in what I know and just by going over a car that I will get a used /but brand new (practically) car....If you take 2 Hellcats both with 10 thousand miles ,same exact car down to the color ,one was at the dragstrip every weekend and one was just some guys midlife crisis he took to shows ,maybye an occasional burnout ,or getting on the highway throwing some gears...You out both of those cars in front of me and I will guarantee I will know which car was beat and which wasnt in a matter of 5 minutes...just know what your buying dont get caught in the moment ,just how each car feels will be different ,but it's up to the buyer to know the signs ...I have no issues with a used muscle car.i made the mistake years ago of getting caught in the moment and got a beat transam,since then ,every used car has been practically new.there are very good used Hellcats along with the beat ones.Just be a smart buyer and you will be fine and have a great car

That’s great advice! I’m in the market for a C7 Corvette, or a GT350, but I wanna wait to see what happens to current prices once Chev and Ford release specs on their C8 and GT500, respectively. While I’m not a Mopar guy, I’ve subbed cause I’m a car fan, in general, and appreciate your insights.
@crankychris25 жыл бұрын
You have the right idea. New C7's are selling at a discount, dropping used prices accordingly. GT350's are a lot scarcer than C7's or H/C's in S FL. Young Mike here was WAY too eager to negociate a good deal. BTW, deal cash only at a dealership, and buy at the end of the month. Expect to walk away from a dealer, when they call you back, then you can start haggling.

Excellent and informative video! Do you think the introduction of the 2019 Widebody 392 and other variations will drive down the cost to low 40s? Also, I got very lucky with my first purchase: a cammed FBO 2011 Camaro with upgraded ZL1 wheels and a lot of engine work done that ran FLAWLESSLY - I got it off the lot for 21k out the door! haha
@mikebythesun6 жыл бұрын
Great catch with the Camaro! Re: pricing predictions, its hard to say what will happen to prices and WHEN. The Scat widebody and the 1320 are interesting trims but they are still far behind the standard 707 Hellcat in terms of power so they very well continue to hold where they are now. Will you be able to find used Cats in the low 40’s? Sure - you can find them now, though in many cases they are not the ideal car you want to buy. The elephant in the room though is actually interest rates. As most people utilize credit to purchase vehicles, the fact that interest rates have gone up THREE times this year (the third just being today and the Fed announced that they plan to raise rates again in December) means that it will get more expensive to purchase a car. For example, financing on a used $50k car over 72 months at 6% is about $1700 more than at 5%, or about $25/month difference. For a lot of people, that’s the difference between buying and not buying.

I watched this video before-it has great content & good to help potential buyers for the pitfalls. I looked for 6 months for a Hellcat, but dealers were stonewalling me. I was about to give up until I found the Hellcat I truly wanted. 2016 Hellcat Challenger-Go Mango w/dual carbon stripes-Moonroof-& an automatic. I came home X-mas night last year & saw an e-mail for "ISeeCars.com" & they had several that went down in price. This one went down $10K. It was legit & I even went with their financing b/c they beat my credit union. They took my Scat Pack on a trade-in & gave me a fair trade on it. Listen to this video & practice a little patience when car shopping-your Hellcat, Scat Pack, or whatever dream car is out there for the best price-trust me.

Great video. Just curious. Instead of trading in which heavily favors the dealer, why don't you sale on open market and then go to the dealer.? Most the time you get pretty screwed by trading in. Also make negotiations very simple.

Gary Baldwin for me the issue is time. Selling privately could net you more money if you sell fast. But cargurus is full of examples of cars that have been sitting for months with multiple price drops, and I didn’t have the time or the patience to deal with that, let alone no shows and low ball offers. For the extra $2k I might have gotten, it was worth it to me to just trade in and have it over in a morning and be done with it.

What is opinion on a Scatpack, TA 392? I'm upgrading from my 2014 RT but stuck at my choice. I like the TA but the scatpack price is tempting
@mikebythesun6 жыл бұрын
In my personal opinion, while I love the look of the TA package, it is overpriced compared to what you get with a Scat. I think a better alternative is to get a Scat with the dynamics package option, which includes the 9.5 wheels and the big Brembos (which also come on the TA 392). I’ve seen that exact Scat package with an MSRP at low 40s, as opposed to 50+ for the TA. You can always add the functional hood ,the intake, hood pins and decal kit and still be THOUSANDS cheaper than buying a TA.

@@mikebythesun thank you. I've been watching your videos to help me with buying another car trading mines in. No lie, I got got on my RT which I love but I paid way too much for it and I was just eager to have one. I think I'm going out of state for purchase because Charlotte is kinda high it seems
