Hi Mike, you're very welcome - thank you for watching and your kind words. I chose a Mapex throne for comfort combined with being reasonably priced (compared to roc-n-soc for example). I tried the 17-KVX today at a music store and the playability and sound really kicked ass compared to my present Alesis Crimson Mesh that I hope to get rid of soon, even if Alesis makes visually nice drum-sets, there has not been one upgrade for 2 years and they dont play nor sounds that great. OK- the new 17 KVX is a bit more expensive, but from my point of view, its definatly worth the price difference.

Terrific informative video. I'd be grateful if you have the time to answer a question for me. I play an acoustic kit at the moment. I'm ancient and not as strong as I used to be and in a typical week might set up my kit at home for 2 days, then take to a rehearsal, then set back up at home, then another rehearsal, then set up back home again, then gig at the weekend. All this setting up (not the drumming!) takes it out of me! My question is do you have to take the kit totally apart each time, or can you remove the drum heads, fold the rest up and stick in the back of a car? A long winded way of saying is it easier to set up and take down and transport than an acoustic kit? Thanks.

Does the RDH-100 anchor the kick tower? I have one coming in Wednesday, but my current DW3000 (plastic side in use!) is kicking the tower backwards, sadly. The setup guide said something about inserting the kick pedal into the kick tower, but the DW3000 doesn't fit in there. Does the RDH-100?

Hi Fairlight2cx. The TD17 kick pad has velcro on the base and I've found that on carpet it anchors itself superbly. I've not used an RDH-100, so don't know whether is also has velcro or spurs. Be interested to know if you feel the RDH-100 is significantly quieter than a standard kick pedal. Thanks for watching and for your question. Happy drumming!

Hi Dave. Quick question. Can I have my metronome in my headphones but not sent thru the L/R outputs to my Tascam?

Can u pls tell me how have you attached the Mapex pedal to the kick drum please? :) I have the Armory H800 double pedal and can’t fit onto the kick drum... it seems like the hoop clamp is too short and can’t hold on the kd10 kick pad’s base... Thank you in advance! You video is great!!!

Hi David, great video! Question for ya, is the drum pad tuning key the same key used for the kit set up stands? Thanks!
@stephenquail3168 Жыл бұрын
Hi David I just got this same kit and I can't get my high hat stand low enough to my liking. Could you tell me which one your using .I see you got yours inside the rack which is great for snare high hat work. Thank you for posting the video.

David, can you confirm what version of the stand came with your TD-17 KVX? The one I received this week seems to have ball sockets for the cymbals, which does not seem to allow the cymbals to be tightened to not rotate. I think the box says MDS-Compact on it. I see Drum-Tec selling it (not where I bought the kit) but not on Roland's website.

Hi AllaMortify. The stand that was supplied with my kit and featured in the video was the MDS-4KVX. Hope this helps.

David, all USA shipments come with the MDS Compact. It says so in the Roland website. Mine arrived yesterday too!
@bkburg46116 жыл бұрын
I believe the only difference are the ball joints with the built in anti-rotation mounts.

Thanks for that video. Somehow my Bassdrum doesn't work. Everything is pluged in correctly but I can't hear anything...only if I turn the Bass on the module to the maximum, I can hear it a tiny little bit. In addition random bassdrum strokes appear all the time without doing anything. If i unplug the cable and hit the plug with my finger, I can hear the basdrum sound. Any idea why it doesn't work? Thanks!
@davidmearsuk5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sebastian. Thanks for watching. If you're certain all the cables are plugged in, and that the kick pad cable is inserted all the way in, it could either me a broken cable or pad sensor. Have you tried resetting the TD17 to factory defaults? Double check that the plug into the TD17 module is fully, and squarely inserted...maybe check that none of the pins are bent? Hope this helps.

Hi David... Very helpful tutorial... Thank you. Wanted to ask if I can use my hi hat and kick pedal from my acoustic set instead of buying these pieces at the music store.
@davidmearsuk5 жыл бұрын
Hi Prindle 15 Port Weller, thanks for watching. Yes, you should be able to. I bought a Mapex hi-hat stand as I didnt have an alternative. Make sure your kick pedal beater has a plastic side you can use - felt beaters ruin the mesh head. Hope this helps.

@@tooncraft3d Hi Joseph. Fantastic that you're getting your kit tomorrow, and your timing couldn't be better (a good thing for a drummer!) I've just uploaded a video about how to calibrate the VH10 Hi-Hat pad: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mX_Hg2aag8mFgc0 In my next video, I'm planning to cover importing samples and assigning them to the pads. It's a great kit!
