Tip for editing the stock kits: if you get lost and want to reset one kit without resetting the entire module, you can do that. Other-Copy, then press the middle button for "Preset" and press enter. This will reset that kit to the factory preset, but will not affect any other setting on the module!

Thanks for the video. I too just bought a TD-17 and this is very helpful. One note about the curve in the pad settings, EXP refers to exponential and LOG to logarithmic.
@bobthesalesclerk3 жыл бұрын
I noticed at around 16:00 you started talking about curves. When you're changing to Exp or Log those stand for exponential and logarithmic. They are how your envelope curves are set up. Just do a quick search of linear/exponential/logarithmic envelope curves for a rundown. Great vid. Stoked to play with this.

What a treat you start this series shortly after I suggested it. Probably just a coincidence considering this kit is really popular right now. But I kid you not I saw this in my feed and I just started repeating "He listened to me! I needed this! Woow! Sub!Sub!" But no I'm pretty sure this is something you've been planning for awhile considering you said series at the beggining. It took me awhile but this is what finally caused me to subscribe. I'll be purchasing this kit really soon and I desperatly search youtube for information regarding this kit. So I just wanted to say thanks because I will definitely watch your entire series! I'm a beginner so I appreciate you doing this. I can't find any other video that goes into this much depth that isn't mostly mashing on the kit lol.

I bought TD17KVX few days ago and for practicing tips I tweaked the threshold on "0" zero on all pads except the kick pad, it is on "14", and set the sensitivity on "4" four on all pads. I found it more dynamic and real feel for playing in practicing room with headphones. Mostly used first and second kit on the module.

I did the factory reset without thinking about the cymbal and pad that I added. Which meant I had to re map the whole preset list to include the added cymbal and pad. Cymbals were sounding like toms. And for volume levels I now use a pad as the hi hat...it’s brilliant as well. Love the kit.

Had the KVX 17 for a year now easy to get round the module and find what you want when you need it however one annoyance is the lack of adjustment on the top tom tom mount however i've found a solution swop the snare mount which is a ball swivel with the tom tom, the tom tom mount is not up to the job for the snare drum on its own but because the snare is 12" it will fit on a normal snare stand result solid as a rock!

For anyone looking: The TD-17 doesn't let you send click to only headphones, so you're going to get that metronome on everything. Not sure why Roland decided to not include that feature, but it's certainly not selling me on a TD-27 (which does support it).
@bobthesalesclerk3 жыл бұрын
Also the tempo sync. So if you have a certain BPM set up on the module with a Delay the delay repeats will sync with the BPM. you can set the tempo sync in different subdivisions of your master BPM.

just got the td17 kvx first as a Buddy Rich fan I am looking for his kit sound I am 67years old and not up on tec however I have within a couple of days mastered the kit tuning to my liking, the cymbals are brilliant, the 12" snare has a ball socket post which is very easy to get the angle you require however the tom toms don't have this so there is no adjustment other than up down and tilt from level or toward the player but that said great kit that will fit in a small area but big on sound and feel

I own this module. This is a great video. I do use Vexpressions pack with it. Those guys do some great work. I love some of the kits they made and tweaked. And yes some of the stock kits are great too. I also use it with SD3 and it is awesome with that too. Honestly I am shocked how much Roland put into this module for the price. I contemplated the Strike but Alesis refuses to just sell the module and a no warranty ebay module turned me off since so many people have had issues. Basically if you don't want to spend 1000's of dollars on a module get this one. It is very solid and the sounds are very good.

I would place the features of this module somewhere in between the TD25 and the TD30/50 (excluding layering), which is kinda strange given Roland place the TD25 above this in the pecking order - I guess due to the overall size of the kit? Did you ever do an in depth tutorial on the TD30?

Thanks for the video. I'd really value your feedback on some software I've been working on - basically it's a configuration editor for the TD-17 (or TD-50) but in Windows rather than on the module itself. It's pretty early days - and this is just an Open Source hobby project - but I'd like to hope it makes life a lot easier if you're doing more than just tweaking a couple of settings. Documentation is at jskeet.github.io/DemoCode/Drums/ - all feedback very welcome.

Hey guys, I recently bought the TD-17KVX but I'm having problems connecting the TD-17 module correctly to my computer. When I first plugged it in, the TD-17 driver for Windows 7 64-bit was automatically installed but the module just won't appear as a storage device anywhere on my PC (as seen in this video at around 5:43). I'm using a formated 32GB SD card in the module, on which I already saved some recordings, and the USB driver mode is set to "VENDOR" as it says in the owner's manual. If anyone could help me getting the data exchange via USB working, I would be really grateful.
@Lasers4595 жыл бұрын
I believe the module wont appear as a storage device. You have to connect it to a vst to play. And you have to have a flash card reader to transfer files to the module. But you probably already figured this out.
