Zangief is just a side character I'm fond of but I think about maining him everytime I see Snake Eyes play, such a solid player, just like Xian.

Guys this matchup just goes against xian entirely because of his playstyle. Very range controlled, calculated, but gief blows all that up with a properly positioned SPD. Don't get me wrong, Snake Eyez played like a man on a mission, but Gen footsies have been neutralized, you saw how Snake Eyez blew up Poison in that stead, and too much familiarity with the Sagat matchup, and prior to this matchup aside from the experience in WNF, Snake Eyez had a set earlier in the tourney against Sanford Kelly, who I feel is 3rd best Sagat in the world. The whole Zangief matchup overall is a demon Xian is going to have to conquer by November's end because Dreamhack Winter is the last chance for Points and guaranteed Capcom Cup qualification, in general.

I know it doesn't mean anything, but I'm still proud for discovering Zangief's U2 combo. As I recall, there were 11 characters, generally all big guys. Though Abel's really weird about it. I forget if it needed a level 2 or 3 focus, but I know it was just one of them for some strange reason. It's a largely useless combo, anyway. The Ultra is weak by itself. Factor in damage scaling, and it's not much better than just using an SPD. Might as well keep the option to stop uppercuts and backdashes.

***** Characters have different stats. Grappler characters like Zangief, Hugo etc. has high attack and HP because they do not have much cross up and fireballs. They are also very slow and suplex and piledrivers are hard to execute.
