Just bought one today at a flea maket for $25.00 for just the basic large pack and the original light weight Polymer frame. I liked the idea of seeing it before I bought, unlike the internet. Nice pack.

Really great pack. Just a couple of things to address your concerns. I have a later gen pack that has a zipper in the very top of the pack (by the drag handle) where the top cover attaches which gives you access to the inside without opening the top flap. If you look around you can find the radio pouch which attaches to four little d-rings inside (took me awhile to find) this pouch is great to hold a hydration bladder. you can then feed the hose out through the zipper or on an older gen out through the side of the top flap. Also a newer gen pack has three compression straps (instead of the two on an older gen) which go around the sides. these strap connect with fastex buckles instead of the friction buckles. These are great to attach a three day assault pack (video on youtube on how to) to the back of the main ruck. hope this helps out. Be Safe

I inverted my kidney pads it covers the gap better. plus lowering you're shoulder straps off the top help with weight transfer a lot of guy's do the teak moves right out the plastic.

you should have picked up the correct foliage green frame. The frame on it is for the woodland molle 2 ruck and have a problem with breaking under extreme use.

Hey, thanks for the tip! When I was at my local Mil-surp store that is all they had, and since it fit I just figured it was the right one. Thanks again! Now I know the correct model to get! Thanks for the view as well. Please consider subscribing for more reviews and adventures. Maybe you can lend some more tips on gear. I am always looking to learn more.

That is strange as that was included in the design. Are you compressing the bag as far as it can go in the compression sack?

dude...That isn't how they are meant to be used... I have the full set I was issued by the USN Seal team....Get it right..but I guess it really doesn't matter unless you are trying to stay alive for an extended period of time under duress. Ignore me! Fck!

+Don Hunter hey, thanks for watching and your service!! But now I have to ask.... What do you mean how they were meant to be used? I want to have the correct info, so if you could help that, would be great! I never had the privilege to serve.... Not for lack of trying... Just got PDQ'ed by the Coast Guard since I was getting allergy shots.. But I love to use the gear since it is so durable, customizable, and cheaper than other gear. So if you could clarify that would be really helpful.

AdventureCamping It is fine the way you are using it. I am finding that Don Hunter is trying to use the way military uses with all of our gear and make it equivalent to the civilian camping/use, which the two can't be compared. You did a great review :)
