I've only used it to remove and replace the core. How to use the reamer really surprised me. Great tool -- great video! Short, informative and no fluff make for the best videos.

Personally, I'd use it in totally reverse order. You know, the same reason you dust your furniture before vacuuming the carpet. I'd clean the outer threads before removing the valve in the firsr place. Edit: I guess you assume everyone has a valve cap (hint, that's where many of these dirty valve issues come from, missing valve cap)..
