This test is not definitive on diels with an egr cooler. If no egr cooler this test is 90 percent accurate. Thanks for sharing the video!

Does the engine need to be hot?

Thanks for sharing, you know I want to use it in a lincoln town car, I can't find the pressure-relief cap from the radiator, can I use put it on the antifreeze reservoir? Thanks

So use the block tester on coolant reservoir?
@hunterautomotive4842 Жыл бұрын
That’s not a just a reservoir it’s a surge tank. It’s part of the pressurized system.

Overheating and loss of coolant but no visible leaks.

Not always accurate
@Careless_is300 Жыл бұрын
This is one of the most accurate and cheapest ways. Not everybody has a leak down tester and an air compressor
@martymartime2446 Жыл бұрын
Okay but it could be leaking cat or egr. Doesn’t always mean head gasket
@jevonrussell315910 ай бұрын
@@martymartime2446what is cat or egr? I used this same block test and mine changed colors as well. But when I do an oil change I see no leaks nor any foaming murky color oil. I don’t think I have a blown head gasket or at least I hope I don’t.

@@jevonrussell3159 How can i find this tester because my car is overheating
@project370z8 ай бұрын
I done this test and i got yellow colour of liquid, we found out egr cooler was leaking .. we replaced the egr and , replace coolant and re do test.. liquid stayed blue.. so not always is a head gasket

You are putting the block tester on the antifreeze reservoir, right?
@hunterautomotive484211 ай бұрын
There is no reservoir on this vehicle. This is the surge tank, which is like a reservoir except that it is part of the pressurized system and has the radiator cap on it.
@medini211 ай бұрын
So, it appears I cannot do this test on my car without draining maybe a gallon of antifreeze from the bottom of the radiator. Should I do this? Should I disconnect the hose that goes from the radiator to the reservoir?
@Jordan__Sloan6 ай бұрын
Just 3 inches below, so it doesn’t suck radiator fluid up, suck air through for 1 to 2 minutes on a warm motor. The small hose that goes to reservoir will be blocked by the rubber on the tool
@barrysuss44212 ай бұрын
@@Jordan__Sloan what if coolant keeps slowly rising out the radiator cap? I suctioned out around 48oz and still slowly rises enough to where when I put the tester on it will suck out coolant, do I have to drain the radiator at the bottom?
@ronaldoquintos16757 ай бұрын
You are sucking coolant into the tube.
@mikemittelstadt87485 ай бұрын
Nope, there is a one-way diaphragm (check valve) on the bottom seal. Otherwise, the fluid would actually leak down into the reservoir, but without it, you would be correct
