@@gatfatfwell sure, but the point is in real life you can move it quite quickly with two hands. In Dark Souls, using two hands doesn't significantly speed up the moveset. DS attacks are unrealistically slow (which is good, because it would be unplayable at real speed).

@@HolyApplebutter not quite. at some point its not about muscle mass you posess but about physics. Sure you can wield a greatsword in a single hand. Would it be effective? absolutely not. Would muscle mass make it better? No. Why? because you are operating a long leaver from the short end with a single point of force application and rotation concentrated on one point while the majority of mass and momentum are way down the long end of the leaver, wich makes it extremely unstable, applies its force extremely bad, can be manipulated by the enemy with ease, as you are not properly able to apply force and in addition to that, your arm and hand joints wont like it either. Similarly ths can be applied to all two handed weapons, wich are, surprise, designed around the use with two hands. Singlehanded use weapons have other balance points, distribution, lenght etc

That is if you try to resist the inertia of the deflected halberd. However, if you use the momentum to begin a backspin riposte, you could create quite the combo, while also moving away from your opponent as you spin keeping, or creating distance. Depending on your opponents movement, if they make a forward advance having blocked your attack and therefore trying to take advantage of your recoil, this would result in them meeting your halberd blade while also being unable to reach your with their presumably shorter onehanded weapon paired with their shield.

You also deal more poise damage, making it easier to stagger enemies. Also most weapons actually receive a small damage bonus independent of scaling when two handed, despite this not being reflected in the stats screen. Even if they have no Strength scaling at all. Basically, if you don't need the other hand free, it's pretty much always better to two-hand your weapon in Dark Souls 1.

I hate how this guy tries to like flourish all his movements and make them look cooler and more exaggerated. I notice that in all his videos It’s certainly a 21st century thing since when these weapons were actually used for their intended purpose it was all about efficiency and movements that could get you the most amount of speed and power in as little time with as little movement. Whereas this guy seems to do the opposite since he’s trying to look like he’s in a video game or movie or something

Why would you even want to use a halberd in one hand if youre in full plate? The whole point of full plate is that you dont need a shield, thereby freeing up your second hand to wield a longer heavier weapon.
@ghoulishgoober3122
@ghoulishgoober3122 10 ай бұрын
You would still need some kind of defense, what are they using their polearms against if their enemies are also wearing full plate? Polearms are meant to puncture armor, most primary weapons on a battlefield would be great for puncturing armor. This is why you see polearms used in group formations. There's like 50 dudes in a row all kitted out in armor with long sticks trying to kill anything in front of them, usually with a line of guys in front of them holding shields actually. A shield could be useful if you were just one guy, even with a halberd, but you wouldn't really wield it in one hand unless you're in unorthodox situations yes

You can use it better one handed if you're wearing armor. You can brace the polearm against the armor and swiping much harder and take far more blows. Much better than trying to brace it against your bare ribs.
