@@michaelficarro2591 Nice! First deer was definitely interesting. Seconds felt like minutes at full draw and the whole time i was thinking why wont this damn thing go off. I was like my release has betrayed me! Then the shot broke and it was perfect. So far I have 5 with the hinge and really dont have any interest of going back to a thumb. Maybe and index.

I have been exclusively shooting a hinge and including for hunting for 5 years now. It eliminates my target panic and reduces buck fever big time! I keep the hinge set fairly cold to help prevent accidental shots but then again in 5 years I haven’t had one yet.

I shoot a UV hinge for 3D and Comp. however in the deer woods I still hunt with my Carter Wise Choice. I want to know exactly when my shot is going to break when at full draw on an animal. That’s just me. My hunting partner kills big bucks with a hinge for last 7 years. It’s up to the Individual

I did the exact same thing during a practice shoot once, messed up at 3/4 draw sent the release flying into my cable roller wheels, splitting one in half and bending the bracket. Though I feel way more confident with my Stan thumb release now.

@ThatJamesGuy88

As long as there’s an arrow nocked-it won’t damage the bow. That said, unless you can draw back and keep your bow perfectly on target, there’s no telling where your arrow will end up.

No damage to the bow! As long as the arrow was nocked. Just gives a weak shot it all. No harm.

I use 3 different index style releases (HHA, True Fire & True Ball). I would consider trying a thumb or Hinge, but some are so pricey, not sure I want to lay down $$$ foe something I may not like. And as you have previously mentioned, not many shops have demo releases. Until I come across somebody that want to let my try out their release, I'll stick with what I have and focus on executing that surprise shot by hooking the finger and pulling through the arm.

Some of the popular models hold their value. You could buy a used one and sell it for about the same price as you pay for it if you don’t like it’d you try a hinge, I can say the best thing I did was make a little practice bow thing so that there were no real consequences when you mess up. I messed up almost every time when I started, but by the time I tried it with my bow I had it figured out.

I struggled with punching the trigger when I moved to thumb from wrist release. Don't wanted to go back to wrist so I ended up getting the truball sweet spot (built in safety) since it was my first hine and the wrist strap from truball coz I don't wanted to take the chance to have the release slip from my finger. best setup for me so far, it slows me down enough to focus on my execution and I don't have to worry about sending an arrow mid-draw. Love your video and the way you explain things.

The pros are probably more comfortable with a hinge since they shoot thousands of shots in a year. I used a thumb trigger release for a number of years, having it hanging on my loop while in my deer stand. Older age arthritis in my fingers has forced me to go to an index finger wrist style now. Took a bit of getting used too!

In my 18 years of hunting I've owned 11 different bows. Some I resold because they weren't for me, others were a monetary decision as I didn't need them as much as I needed other things. Lol. Right now, I pretty much keep everything as I don't buy anything unless I really intend on running it for a long time.

@@averagejackarchery 11 in 18 years isn't terrible or too many. I kind of expected high double figures, I started in 2017 and I'm on my 4th. A used Hoyt Pro Comp Elite was my first, then I got the Pro Force purely for the looks :-) I sold that and bought a Mybo Origin which I had for less than a year before part exchanging it for a Mybo Edge which I plan on keeping for a while. However I do like the colour of your current bow, if you ever want to part with it, I got first dibs! :-))

I gotta say, If you want the best of both world check out the GOAT from TruBall. It’s not the most adjustable hinge but it’s smooth. And the thumb button setting is crisp. I like that it IS the same release. So your anchor, d-loop, peep can all be the same.

While I have the utmost respect for you and your content I would tend to disagree on this one: I'd say take whatever release you feel most comfortable with into the woods. For me that is my Arc Systeme L'Attendeux (a brass hinge made in France) which is by far the best fitting release I've ever shot and as long as I keep my thumb wrapped around that peg I can draw back as smoothly and slowly as I want and sit at full draw comfortably. Plus I've never been more accurate than with this thing - it's like black magic...

After a season long bout of target panic I switched to a sweet spot pro and practiced 30-50 arrows a night from april to September brought that hinge to the woods with me and had much more confidence...IMO you practice how you hunt so to each their own just like bows, arrows, sights etc if looking at getting a hinge get one with a safety just in case you forget. Personally not for me. I really like a thumb trigger style ( I hate the term thumb button- theres no button anywhere) because of ability to control it with confidence. In the excitement of a hunting shot for me the hinge is a loose cannon. For years I used a trigger set fairly hard to pull so I wouldn't set it off prematurely. Now my thumb hunting release is set with a longer travel and slightly heavier tension. Not the time to have a release fire because of the excitement of the moment
