But the time I ranged , checked my kestrel data and aimed the critter was nowhere in sight , maybe we should call these gizmos animal survival tools ! 😂

Great video! The Kestrel 5700 is amazing. Even more so when paired with a SigSauer BDX 2400 range finder.

I use a sig kilo 1250 rangefinder and its great. I rekon the 2400 would be a neat upgrade but I cant justify the cost atm

Enjoy all your videos. For same price from Optic's Planet I just purchased the ATN night/day scope that has built in programing & memory for every pellet, slug, or bullet I use it on with detachable mounts and it records. Just got it. A bit of a learning curve, but I think we'll be friends for a while. Ha ha. Cheers, Ed

Hello meathead , how have you been getting on with the kestrel? Did you find it works ok with air rifles? I have just bought the basic 2700 ballistic meter that has the G1/G7 applied ballistics within and want to use it with my .25 high power redwolf , have you found your 5700 works accuratley enough with your air guns?
@meatheadmarksman20134 жыл бұрын
I usually use it for the numbers to put into strelock pro and it works well. But the difference between g1 and ga is a little too big for VERY prescise shooting.
@PaulHamM34 жыл бұрын
I went out earlier and trajectory validated a 34g slug at 100 yards but found the windage numbers was way out , it was telling me i only needed .3 mrad in a 10mph wind! So i think i will use your idea of just measuring the wind with it and applying it to strelok pro
@meatheadmarksman20134 жыл бұрын
@@PaulHamM3 yeah the drop is okay but the wind is pretty optimistic lol kestrel is super awesome for everything when you start using slugs and anything from 22lr and up

Hey Meat..why do not you use the MTC Optics Rapier Ballistic 2 Rangefinder with the app? He is great for Airguns! I use it for my FX Impact, Ataman BP17 and the Huben K1 all in cal 22 …I like your videos, a lot of information and good entertainment !!!! ... Thumbs up .... greeting Rick

Nothin against the mtc, seems like a great product but I already have a sig kilo 1250 which is a fantastic little unit. Can't really justify buying more then one rangefinder

Very good review video,i do have a question.What pellet do u shoot in the video?I see u use a BC of 0.043 is that for the jsb mk2?I tought that actually is about 0.052 instead off 0.043? For the rest exxelent video,keep em coming!!!!
@meatheadmarksman20135 жыл бұрын
Yesh king heavy mkii. I have seen it listed at 0.05ish but I just used my data from strelock pro and it seems to be pretty spot on. Pellets are suuuper weird when it comes to BC, the bc changes significantly as the speed changes, and in weird ways that you wouldn't expect. I've had the best results when using the 0.043 and that's what I recommend people try first. If 0.05 works I'm all for using it too
@jarnitrulli5 жыл бұрын
@@meatheadmarksman2013 Thats what i guessed...thats the thing u start to fiddle with when what strelok tell you doesnt match the actual impact of the pellet,correct me if im wrong...
@meatheadmarksman20135 жыл бұрын
@@jarnitrulli the general rule of thumb is don't adjust bc until your out at 600 to 800m but that's for proper bullets not pellets, I think the best way is to make a dope sheet and compare it to what strelock gives you side by side and try change the bc and velocity to match the real world results. If it matches the real world result then your doing the right thing

I just got my Kestrel 5700 and saw your video and have a question. I have G1 setup and in .25cal the BC is about .035-.038 for JSB King Heavy but the Kestrel will not allow lower than 0.100....what needs to be done? .....I see below you are using 0.05...how do you put that into the Kestrel???? Thanks!!!!
@meatheadmarksman20135 жыл бұрын
I did it by building the gun profile from scratch with the kestrel ballistic app on my phone and then sending it to the kestrel via the Bluetooth link (24:30)
@flytelaw15 жыл бұрын
@@meatheadmarksman2013 thanks mate...all done but it defaults to G7 now instead of GA or G1....grrrr...
@meatheadmarksman20135 жыл бұрын
@@flytelaw1 that's weird... Does it appear as g7 on the app in your phone? Cos you might need to change it, save the changes, and overwright that particular profile onto your kestrel. Make sure in the app on your phone you change it to g1, save the changes, click out of it and tgen go back and check that it's saved properly. If you don't save the changes in the app and just click out without scrolling down and clicking save it won't stay changed
