Using a Smaller or Bigger Size Strap For Odd Size Watches

While there are many strap options to choose from for even lug width watches such as 20mm and 22mm, the same cannot be said for odd lug width watches such as 19mm or 21mm. In this video, we will show you the difference between downsizing and upsizing the strap.
The Orient Bambino watch featured in this video has a lug width of 21mm. We tried using a 20mm and a 22mm strap on the watch, and show you the pros and cons of downsizing and upsizing.

anyway, if there is a gap, the strap can push open the springbar and the watch will fall down, specially if there is some strain on the strap, as in getting up and pushing oneself up with ones hands. I broke 3 watches that way already

However, do take note of the strap material. For some strap that have very stiff ends, it would be better to downsize for ease of fixing.

Yes or you can lightly trim the leather to 21 mm.

There’s those stainless steel magnetic Milanese loop watch bands for 18mm all over eBay if that helps. I’m more into the loop nylon bands and they don’t have them in 18mm so I got the 20mm and I’m going to shave the plastic connector part so hopefully that works and change the quick release pins.

Anytime you use a narrower band, just make sure the lug pins are the correct width, don’t use the lug pins that came with the narrower band.
