I was hoping you would make this video. i agree thank mounted lights look so clean. gotta say tho, I am an LPS guy myself but dang that SPS tank looks great. quite the pair of balls to want to experiment with a tank looking that nice. its a shame that anything over 4' you "should" use the other mounts. wish they just made them stronger as IMHO tank mounting it where its at with these lights. will you show us the par on both tanks plz? also we would love to see the app control. just how much control of spectrum to these bad boys have? thanks again! :D

Thanks for highlighting these. I am wanting to put a pair of these on a new tank build to add some front and back coverage on a 30" deep (front to back). If I plan on hanging these a good 12-16" above the water of a 60" long tank. do you think I should go with 48" models or the 57" model? I don't want to have spill over the sides if these have decent spread beyond the short edges.

Wow you have docked my problem 🎉 I have a 25 gallon Aquavision bubble aquarium and my choice of lights have been horrible! Mainly because I’m stuck with a canopy and need a light that can sit directly on top of the tank. Look my aquarium up and you’ll see what I’m talking about. But once again, thanks

I want these as bars, but they can totally do acros. I just like my xr 15 daylight, and want glow blades. 3 blades is just more than I can afford. Blades will supercharge acro growth like a T5 is my bet.

I have an sps tank with xr15 blues. I’m thinking of making the change over too. More par with less energy, more spread, no fan noise as Radions are loud, better spectrum than my blues.

They look great, an planning a nano tank that comes with a light but I think I might try the blade instead. My only concern is that the typical on the glass mounting is going to be a pain in terms of accessing the tank

I would go for 3 blades, all grows, if that does not suit you - 2 grows and 1 glow, but I'd go for 3 grows personally (and I did)

The Tanks look very nice under the blade lights . Are you getting any signs of salt creep on the lights with how they are mounted .

Great question - so far - no salt creep, I think it would depend on the turbulence of the surface. I don't have too much surface agitation, just some and it seems to be fine.

As the owner of a G6 radion pro, I love how tuneable the spectrum is, and I haven’t seen anyone tweak the grow spectrum (I prefer warmer whites). That said I want a pair of 12” glows as fill light mounted like reefbrite k15s.

How are you getting that color spectrum from 2:02 - 5:27 - from a GROW light that only has royal blue, cool white, and blue LEDs...?

They are awesome, I find that I can get that white crisp look with a hint of blue. Very lifelike.

Switch one grow for a glow on the SPS tank. Raise them at least 4” off the water (8” being better) and watch what the Glow does to your SPS.

Can you elaborate? You think it is all in the Violet/UV spectrum? Is it doubling down on Royal Blue?

@@TreasureCorals I think we, as a hobby, use way too much royal blue. Royal blue LEDs actually miss the chlorophyll A peak. It is also my belief that we don’t get enough indigo or violet in 99% of the LED setups out there.

@@raisethereef Glow would come with a lot more Royal Blue (in addition to UV and Violet), so I see a contradiction in your advice. Are you suggesting to bring Royal Blue down or off and only use Glow for UV and Violet?

I currently run two xr15 blues in an aquatic life hybrid t5 fixture on a 4 ft lagoon. I’m looking to get rid of t5 but currently the radions in their own with all channels at 100% is too blue for me. Do you think two blade grows on a whiter setting would be a good replacement for t5 that could add some whites to the radions?

Yes, 100% yes. Grows would be phenomenal from that perspective.

I think 4 xr15 fixtures over the a 4x2x1.5 should be plenty though par still isn’t anything crazy considering how many lights I have now. I do have an older apogee so I figure it’s not really picking up a lot of the par from the blue fixtures.

Great video! Getting ready to start the hobby soon. Have an oddball question: Why wouldn't someone just buy both the grow and glow blades? Wouldn't you get best of both worlds?

I think that you might get a bit of color banding, unless you sandwich them, so you will need 3. I'm also not the biggest fan of the actinic look, I prefer a blue look personally. Love the grows and feel that they can give me that flexibility.

Do you keep a lid on your tank? Would the blades work with a lid or would you need to raise them with a mount arm.

I do not use a lid and have experimented with several mounting options. For this tank I am now using two mount arms and I really like the result. Will be shooting a video on it shortly.

Yes - 57 inch blades for sure, would get 2 grows if you plan to have an LPS tank and if you want strong SPS light - get 3 as I did. Just posted a video showing both of my tanks with both configurations.

I think you can start with 1 light - it is very strong and as long as you don't see much shading you'll be fine. If you see shading - add a second one.

I like the lights but don't like that each blade needs its own electrical outlet and you can't buss them together

It is a fair concern and I thought about it - I am not an electrical engineer, but I think that the power requirements of these fixtures would not make it technically possible. They got similar intensity of a Radion G6 and yet I doubt these could be strung together. If we are talking about tiny kitchen lights - sure, but these ones are so thin. Also, you don't want to have 110 voltage so close to the water surface - that could kill a person.
