Most draw current, I had multiple cheap obd scanners and once you plugged in they are active and try to connect something via bluetooth or wifi. Some even have lights to show that they are connected successfully which is even wirse for battery of the car.

No remove it before driving it's like maintenance mode you can but it serves no purpose better safe than sorry. The research I have done says no.

No it just reads data and clears fault codes.

There is no audio instructions and how to pair the plug-in device with the application to the phone I gather it's it's all guesswork so I gather it's done by bluetooth. It said they would be a lot more beneficial this video if there was audio where the person is talkin giving additional instructions to how to use the app instead of what is this site and see play & watch. I'm not sure but it sounds like he's got the car running I thought the key was supposed to be just in the on position there's a lot left to the imagination with this video as guesswork is the better word...
