“He wants to shoot the boy with the arrow” As a beginner DM letting my PCs just do as they please is so very interesting resulting in far better story lines then I intended 😂

Being a player for new DMs, it's always hilarious when they take a backseat and allow the story to derail itself in the stupidest way possible. Two of my most memorable games were in that context lol
@dubiousinformation175610 ай бұрын
Should add that this is if you don't have a problem player trying to ruin the fun of every other player at the table. For anyone that does have one of those players, try to talk it out first. If nothing changes, and they're still negatively impacting other players fun, they may not be suitable for your table.
@bananasmoussestachio901710 ай бұрын
If the players are in it for fun, then it is great. But if you get killjoys such as rules lawyers, toxic min-maxers or just straight up asshhats, then you are in for a world of hassle

@@chego05 bow and arrows have to have the space to actually draw it and launch it So if the target is at point blank range the arrow won't have enough space to build up speed and straighten out from the launch It's common in a lot of fantasy games like world of Warcraft where you can't shoot something at point blank range It might also have something to do with people being able to dodge it when they're able to see the arrow a few feet from their face

Reminds me of an old story a player once told me. They were playing homebrew DnD (I can't remember which version, probably 3E?), with the theme of the campaign being that everyone was a "monster". The party's warrior/tank was a fire elemental, and to mess with them, the DM had the climactic battle in the rain where he took constant environmental damage, and the team's cleric couldn't keep up. Then they realized that several sessions ago, the team's ranger got a magic bow the DM brewed up specifically because the warrior kept complaining that whenever the ranger failed an attack roll, he would get hit in the back. So, the bow turned all damage into fire damage, so it wouldn't hurt him. And the archer also had fire arrows, adding more fire damage. And the fire elemental guy could absorb incoming fire damage to heal himself. In the end, the archer spent the rest of the encounter shooting the warrior over and over again to heal them, freeing up the cleric to do something else. Only in tabletop RPGs can you run into weird stuff like that.
@mod3rnknight1899 ай бұрын
Wait, is he actually an archer cleric, i thought Kyborg was a Fighter
@Qardo9 ай бұрын
@mod3rnknight189 Well, Fighters can become Archers. Really, there is no limit to what a Fighter can do when it comes to fighting with weapons. Any weapon. They can figure out and use it. Their only weakness is no natural source to control magic.

@@alvinvalentino5797 If the target was vulnerable to healing, probably. Problem was we never got to use it in the oneshot, so we didn't get to test it. I was killed due to the damage being more than the healing cause it was a combination of rolling stupid low on a d20 and almost max on the damage die. Honestly not upset cause that is just something hilarious to talk about when it comes to homebrewing stuff and how fun it can be.

Reminds me of our Duskblade/Cleric in 3.5 DND, he used a club to literally club people back to health! Cuz of the Duskblade spell attack rules he could use one cure spell and attack several times to heal more with it. The trick was to declare them as non-lethal attacks, as normal healing heals both normal hp and an equal number of non-lethal damage. Still a callback we use when playing.
