Having worked in Community Mental Health teams, David shares information on the diversity of human experiences, and how people react and cope with some extremely difficult circumstances.. Self-neglect manifests itself through several different aspects of one’s own life - through health, hygiene, or home surroundings. Though we may be susceptible to neglecting our needs every once in a while, when this persists for a period of time, it could lead to harmful effects and becomes an issue within social care. David explores where intervention or non-interference can be applicable to an individual. Through his talk, David hopes to change the narrative surrounding ‘quick-solutions’. Only once we are able to get beside a person, can we have a greater understanding of where self-neglect comes from.
