I like having in-game holidays with parallels to real-world holidays, as it's always fun to run Halloween-themed games in late October, Christmas-themed games in late December, etc.

In real life I'm very "whatever" about the holidays, meaning I could just ignore them and keep moving. But I'll admit, they are fun for one shots.

I always called that Hallows-eve which is quickly followed up by the day of "Thanks and Harvests". Then when the nights grow long and the days short, the people gather in the center of town around a big bonfire(s) and celebrate the "Longest Night" signaling the beginning of the days lengthening again and the halfway point of winter.

I've been making a Fantasy Calendar that people can use. 1 month is 30 days, 1 Season is 3 months, and 1 year is 4 seasons.

I so wish that's how the real-life calendar actually worked instead of this 30 days, 31 days, 28 days, thing we got going on.

We've discussed this idea on the Around the Hearth chats. It is worth noting that if gods exist in your setting those gods ARE going to have Holy days. ~ Adam

Did we? Probably. We also talked about playing as food characters. Lot of strange things happen at the planar crossroads.

good ideas, I'm trying to come up with some holidays for a setting, harvest festivals or winter is scary let's hug, holidays are generally good for low tech level worlds.
@asquirrelplays26 күн бұрын
They could probably work for a post-apocalyptic setting too, which may or not also be low-tech depending on how you go about it. But I get what you mean

@@asquirrelplays also in a post apocalypse something for the day there's no more x's on the old calanders, or for day lights saving which without context is when humanity played god and tried to create an extra hour.
