Very interesting. I gave up on the Märklin decoders with Viessmann signals. Now, I use the ESU Signal Pilot. It is much cheaper than the m84, and you do not need the diodes.

Hi Storm, I have been looking at the ESU signalpilot and they look very interesting. Great they do not need diodes. Question: How many 4 way signals can you connect to one signalpilot? ...and can you use DC power for the signals? Enjoy ;-)

Hi Bo. Can you show us how to connect viessmann combination signal. (KS signals). Thanks

Hi Alf, I am not sure I have these signals... which signal specifically are you asking about (Viessmann model number)? Enjoy ;-) Bo

Would be happy to learn how to connect the viessmann 4045 or 4046 ks signals with a cs3 !
@ModelTrainFun11 ай бұрын
Hi Alf, I have looked in the manuals and as I see it you can connect them to the CS3. However, the issue is that the CS3 does not support all the signalling aspects. By being a little creative using the existing CS3 signals I believe you can make it workable. I am currently considering buying these to try them out - however, they are very expensive... Enjoy ;-) Bo

What is the test cable you used to connect the signal wires to and test all the led’s?
@ModelTrainFun2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, these are some electronics test cable that you typically find in specialized stores or on the internet. Look for "Alligator clips" - as an example you can find them here: www.amazon.com/s?k=alligator+clips Enjoy ;-)

Hi Bo, i follow each video and building my Marklin c track layout. I learned a lot. I still have the CS2 but there is not a lot of videos on how to program the CS2.

Hi Christo, The CS2 is still a good device depending on your needs. What kind of programming are you looking for? Programming of the m84 in this video? Enjoy ;-)

Very informative video - where can I buy the black test-cable you’re using in this video?
@ModelTrainFun2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jens, I think you are referring to the black power supply cable where you can insert the wires? If so, then this was just a cheap power supply I bought of amazon. This was a DC power supply with variable voltage and a range of connectors so it can be used for multiple purposes. Enjoy ;-)
@ModelTrainFun2 жыл бұрын
Here is an example of a power supply. Note - this is not the one I have, but something similar: www.amazon.com/Universal-Adapter-Variable-Adjustable-100V-240V/dp/B07WWBB9DY

Nice video Bo. The system is cheaper but I don't like all the wires.
@ModelTrainFun2 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric, yup agree many wires. For me this would not work on my temporary layout. On a permanent layout however, you only have to do it once so I still see this being beneficial. Enjoy ;-)

Hi Bo, I am about to build my own and am yet to decide on the signals, of which I need a lot. I like the option save money, however I wonder if there is that much to save. If I compare the cost of 4 Viessman signals plus m84, with the comparable Märklin signals, I get a difference of 50 Euro. This comes to 12.5 Euro per signal on average. When you have to do the wiring with Viessman, it may well be worth buying the Märklin signals. It seems to me that with the cost for the m84 at 100 Euro significant cost reduction can be achieved when m84 alternatives. One other question I have is, how do the Viessman signals compare in terms of detail and construction? Do they look as good in real life as the Märklin ones?
@ModelTrainFun9 ай бұрын
Hi Hubert, I also like the Viessmann signals and find them as detailed as the Märklin ones. However, the wirering is very complex with the M84 to more complex signals. Consider looking at other decoder options e.g. ESU signal pilot or the Viessmann multiplexer supported signals (e.g. 5229/52292). There are also lots of others out there Qsignal and digikeijs. Unfortunately, I do not have much experience with these. I suggest you ask around. There are many options. Also consider if you are using software automation, then it can be even simpler ad the M84 can connect and the software controls how the signal works. However, this usually requires more outputs to be used. Hope this helps! Enjoy ;-) Bo
@hubertvanmierlo9 ай бұрын
@@ModelTrainFun thanks Bo. I checked out ESU decoder, yes it has 16 outputs so brings down the cost by 50%. I will research the other options you mentioned as well. Thanks!
@ModelTrainFun8 ай бұрын
@@hubertvanmierlo Hi Hubert, please explore how it works - I think you will have one wire per light - hence using one output per light. This will use the outputs faster, but much easier than then wires needed with the m84 in this video. Enjoy;-) Bo

Great tips. Are there books with these secret tips? (because it's not in the instructions....) Thanks
@ModelTrainFun14 күн бұрын
Hi Charles, I mostly find the tips by studying the manuals, the website and experimentation. It often takes some time to experiment and make a video. Some also comes from experience as signals work similarly - even across manufactors. I think the tip is to try it out, read the manual's and be patient. If you dont find a solution - look around and there are others who found it. As a model train community it is important we help each other this way. Enjoy ;-) Bo
