Focus on accuracy first, the speed will come with time and practice. That is great advice for Tekken and life in general. Well said Speedkicks.

what he said there with the "accuracy then comes speed" works well with learning combos the first time too. i remember i'd do just parts of the combo on the ground i'd have trouble with before going into the full combo, slowly working into the full combo. i guess that mind set of accuracy before speed works for the korean back dashes too now that i think about it.

Dude, Speed Kicks, imo, you're the Albert Einstein of Tekken education. Thank you for this. It's articulated so logically. No nonsense yet kind progressively advancing teaching. Awesome! You help me connect the dots with a very hard game. And tutorials like this make labbing more fun.

Thanks for your time and making this video bro. The level of detail and patience with teaching is very much appreciated. I teach martial arts, and some of principles you give in Tekken such as focusing on accuracy over speed ring true in my class and life as well. Keep doing what you're doing. Have a great day.

Thanks man, content like this helps a ton, still i think you have a pretty advanced look on the game, like knowing jab into hopkick is at mixup range, or having a complete knowledge of strings not to get exploded, playing true tekken with little cheese and heavy mindgames takes a long time it seems

11:00 Throwbreaking. If throws look too fast for you, you can use Cheat Engine to slow the game down to learn animations and train your body. I started from 0.5 speed on the first day, went to 1 speed in like an hour. Then after few days of training I could break up to 90 out of 100 throws, which is a good result in under a week. But not online, because in practice mode you're waiting for these throws and dummy isn't doing anything else. To properly train throw breaking in practice mode to be able to break them online you want to load 3 throws and 5 moves+ at the same time, and try to punish all moves and throw breaking at the same time. But you can't do that in Tekken by default, so I made a trainer for that: www.reddit.com/r/Tekken/comments/90exi7/tekken_7_punishment_and_throwbreak_trainer2/ It allows you to load any amount of moves in practice mode and setup frequencies. After practicing punishes and throw breaks like that with a trainer, now I manage to break many more throws than I could before(even compared to a time when I could break 9/10 throws in practice mode but not online).

To throw break and punishment training I would add plus frame or neutral 1 hit mid or high and after that grab, punishable move or Snake edge

This game depth and the amount of dedication it takes to be competitive is really astonishing. The more I learn, the better I get, the more I can see the ocean of my ignorance. I'm also a little sad about the ranking inflation; a lot of Tekken God Prime who haven't even cheated are just miles below the professional top players and there's no visual reward left to gain for the second group.

Great content Speed. I mainly focus on the throw breaking. I usually just look at the animation of the throw instead of hands. But I noticed looking at the hands. 1 or 2 throw have that trying to reach out animation. While 1+2 throw have that explosive forceful grab. Just my 2 cents. But thnx for tip accuracy over speed. Will try that
@totoyboogie96285 жыл бұрын
fRANK CENA Also a good idea to know the difference between a 1 throw and a 2 throw. When the opponent tries to grab with the left arm leaning forward, you break with 1. If it's the right arm leaning forward, you break with 2. This is important because a lot of command grabs can only be broken by the specific input. Only a handful of throws break this rule, e.g. King and AK's Giant Swing.
@FrankCENA5 жыл бұрын
@@totoyboogie9628 Thanks. But I'm aware of this. Just to add most 1+3 and 2+4 grab can be broken by pressing 1 or 2. Tekken 7 made grab breaking easier

21:38 That's not it...lol. Great video, though; I like this one a lot. Enough of these and we might just be able to completely cover how to begin as a Tekken player! Getting up, walls, recognizing whiffs, stuns, positioning, limiting opponents options so you know what to expect in advance (forced crouch, frame advantage, etc.), standing/full crouch/while standing/while running, cancelling into 'instants' (instant while running, etc.); each of these can be discovered/honed in practice mode (and could use their own '20 minute video'...but that's just me...). Kudos.
